Bondi Rescue follows the work of the elite professional Lifeguards who patrol Australia’s busiest beach. This is Australia’s real life Baywatch! Taking the viewers on their journey through mass rescues, drownings, resuscitations, shark sightings, and all number of the weird and wonderful experiences Bondi Beach dishes up.
In #BondiRescue the audience sees the action through the eyes of real characters and #lifeguards like Hoppo, Deano, Reidy, Jesse, Maxi, Whippet and Harries, as they catch thieves, perform CPR, make drug busts, break up fights, and even handle a navy bomb that washes ashore one afternoon. *Over time, newbies Jesse and Maxi have become favorites of mine, but older ones like Harries, Harrison, and Jethro by now, still have my full respect and 'love'. Watching them grow out of the younger hijinks and get more serious is wonderful to see.*

Swimming in a pool is NOTHING like swimming in big waves, rocks and rips. You have to know your limits if you’re going to get in the water!

It’s crazy to me how many of these people don’t know how to swim! I can’t swim like these lifeguards but I spent a lot of time in pools over the summers growing up. They must just not have the benefit of pools or lakes/oceans near them I suppose.

What ticks me off is people who CANNOT SWIM are dependent upon a buggy board to save them in rough water when it won't save you! Those boards are too light for the rough waves and will be ripped out of their arms so fast !!!

I CAN swim. But I will NEVER use a body board EVER AGAIN. It flipped on me and smashed me in the abdomen and I've never felt so much pain! Believe me when I say that. I've broken my back before (T 12 burst fx) and it was nowhere close to the pain when the boogie board smashed my interiors!!

from what i can find he quit bondi rescue in 2019 and there are a couple sites talking about him facing drug charges but its only 2 sites so take with a grain of salt

Jesse quit Bondi Rescue in 2019 because he couldn't deal with all the ever increasing suicides and rescues.He was facing drug charges at the time too.He is married now to a gorgeous wife with 2 children I believe.

A Rip is a strong current running out to sea. It can drag people away from the shallow area of the shoreline and out to sea.

The water flows to the beach (waves), but then the same water needs to flow back out again (rip). So the rip is where the water flows back out to sea and it can be a very strong rip that can take swimmers with it. If someone is in a rip, most people cannot swim to the beach, instead you need to swim to the left / right first to get out of the rip and then swim to the beach. You can search for a video on youtube with diagrams too :)

All the water comes to land in a wave 🌊, and all water and sand goes out to sea again down the deep \/ channel. This is the rip. It’s slow when the tide is going in and Fast when the tide is going out.

Laughing and joking around when the boss is being serious is pretty immature and on top of the rest of their immaturity I'm surprised they didn't an immediate slap down..verbally of course. I wouldn't want either one of those guys in charge of my rescue.

I agree,to be messing around in your dinner hour is one thing but to be doing it when your supposed to be on duty is totally another.I am surprised Hoppo didn't fire them on the spot and for them to laugh in his face while in his office in front of him is wrong.

Why is there not a big sign posted with the buggy board shed telling people that these boards are not life savers and are not to be used in high waves !! It should be a huge WARNING in Asian and English language!!!! You know that some education can prevent a lot of serious problems with swimmers!!!
