This is some nice information, I definitely have had problems where I could not get my kick to sound punchy without making my whole beat start clipping. Also, I remember in a video about making vintage sounding melodies you said you might make a video about convolution, are you still planning on making one?

Hey I know my way around producing but I been struggling w making my (especially zaytoven) 808 come thru the mix clean like you hear in all the songs. My 808 sounds muddy and by turning it up it doesn't sound better. I tried using camel crusher, eq'ing, waveshaper, sausage fattener etc etc, but I still struggle. Any chance you could teach me how to make my 808 come thru the mix better? Appreciate the videos!!

Maybe parallel compression on your 808 and panning your melodies all the way to the sides and EQ everything below 150 hz on your melodies? I know the zaytoven 808s are tricky to mix

Just get a good kick, then put a soft clipper on your master, then turn the kick up and bam you got a good sounding kick. If it still doesn't hit hard, turn up the 60Hz and the higher frequencies of the kick.

yeah limiting and soft clipping does make it louder but your lufs is getting over the prefered lufs of streaming platform , youtube and spotify and make more platform will do db reduction in your song which will sound compressed and loss of artifacts, how do i make it sound louder in industry standard lufs ,

Wrong. Nobody in the industry mixes to recommended loudness of streaming platforms. Start evaluating the loudness of songs on Spotify and you will see. Speaking for Hip Hop almost all songs are at minimum of 9 or 10 lufs. A good amount usually hit 6 or 7 lufs. When a streaming platform receives a song that exceeds the recommended threshold it will turn the track down but that doesn't introduce artifacts. If your song is too quiet it will be turned up and then you will have a problem because artifacts will be introduced due to their limiting/compression algorithm. Also, Spotify has the option to turn off loudness normalization. That means if your track is quieter than the other tracks it will stick out like a sore thumb. Master your track to first what sounds good and second try to be in the ball park of reference tracks within the same genre.
