If Anant was earning more than her, would he have had joint acc? I work in same business of my husband but I am a worker in there and earn a salary. The reason I started working was because I was working as a free housewife and had to beg for basic things for me. So now if I have money in my acc, I buy whatever I want and no hisaab to any husband.

I have one joint account to pay bills and everyday expenses. Then I have 2 separate savings accounts where I equally distribute our savings monthly. I have always managed our finances solely and things have been great so far.

I think they should have one joined account and one savings account personally each of them. All the investments should go from Joint and still have some personal money that they can spend or invest however they want. Above all transparency in all dimensions of a relationship makes things better.

It's been 4 years of my marriage and still we both have our separate account. The concept of joint A/c never came to our mind. But we both are equally responsible towards each other financially. It is sorted that I will pay the premium of his and mine policy, invest in shares and mutual funds and he will pay for the rents and other expenses to run our household and business. So, I don't feel there is a need of any joint account as long as you are sharing responsbilities.

For buying things together and making plans for future, you don't necessarily have to open a joint account and give your partner the access to your salary. Make the plans together, decide on a suitable budget depending on how much money you have in your respective account. Then the transfers can be made accordingly. Anant should respect her decision.
