We were on one of the first cruises onboard the new Sun Princess. Even as someone who enjoys cruising with Princess Cruises, there were some things I loved - & other things I had mixed feelings about.
In this video I share not only a Sun Princess cruise review, but we also take a look around this brand new Princess cruise ship. Consider this part Sun Princess ship tour with commentary as well. We look at the public spaces, from the Piazza to the Eatery (cruise buffet), to The Dome, Lido deck, Sanctuary & more. I also answer the questions cruisers have been asking about this new cruise ship.

I think it’s great how you mentioned that people should definitely be leaving feedback on their post crew surveys and I just wanted to add that princess is currently building the sistership which I think is called the star princess and any feedback at this time may be taken into account as they build the new ship so it’s even more important to fill out those surveys and videos like yours will help as well.

I sailed on it in 2001 the one that had a cabin catch on fire from a smoker throwing a cigarette out from the balcony and landed in some else's balcony and caught fire for 2 o3 cabins??

In principle the way to do. But what if the cruise line kicks you out of the survey? Happened to us! Asking a Star rating to start with, and when you don't give high enough amount of stars they kick you out by saying "seems you were not cruising on that ship!" W h a t ????

I think they mention that the ship is of an evolutionary design. In this respect the ship does not have a fantail. The sides are generally parallel to the sides of the hull in the aft area.

I love the color scheme which is what attracted me to wanting to cruise on Sun Princess. I am not into tacky colors like other ships have so I love this.

As soon as I finished the video, I went to Princess’ website and was checking out the sailings for this ship. I told my husband we need to go on it because it looks amazing! We were on the same cruise and I only saw one cruise youtuber even though I heard there were 20 of you aboard. I think thats a testament to how well people/venues are spread out. We had a cabana mini suite and we loved virtually everything on the Sun Princess. Going thru withdrawal already. Watching videos now, I realize in 10 days we did not have time to experience everything. Must go back! Favorites/highlights: Cabana private deck, Reserve Dining, Ocean Now food delivery, the Medalion, the bands, the comedians, quality of food, fantastic crew, so much more, even little things like the motion detector night lights. Truly a FANFASTIC voyage and a beautiful ship! And yes we were on deck 9 with the "freeway" hallway sometimes. But not really that big a deal. Great video, you covered a lot in 27 minutes.

So, was the Cabana private deck for anyone in Cabana suites or for Reserve Collection cabanas, only? Did you have one of the Cabanas that opened up to the Cabana deck? Did it seem like a good location with people being right outside of those cabins during the day? Also, how were the special dishes in the Reserve dining room?

@@rossh688 Seemed to me that it was only for those Reserve Collection cruisers. Also only for those on that side. The first day I could go to the other side, but after that access was blocked. There was seldom anyone out there. Maybe 6-10 people. I believe Reserve Dining had pretty much the same as Horizons, but very quiet and relaxed. Crew in RD was outstanding!

Thanks for another great vlog - very informative as always. 👍 This ship appears to have a very clever and thoughtful design, particularly the extra dining options and the positioning of venues, etc. This will hopefully spread passengers out more efficiently instead of the usual buffet and pool deck area congestion. I'm really looking forward to sailing on it next July.

My wife and I started on February 28th in Rome and finished in Barceloneta on March 10th. To be honest, was our first time on the Mediterranean, and was spectacular! I tried just to relax as much as possible. And yes, my favorite spot was The Dome. Got a book and a drink; and see you later! Always thankful for your advice!

Just got of Her Beautiful Sun. Enjoyed the Mediterranean. We all have different view points. All was luxury. All Specialty dining was great. Love the color scheme, very warming. My Suite was lovely.

Ilana, saying that some casual dining restaurants are included in the Plus package is not accurate (unless the company changes their policy). You merely receive TWO vouchers (per person, per cruise) for the fixed price menus. The casual dining fixed price options are included in the Premier package. Everything else is offered "a la carte" for additional $$.

We were sailing on the Sun from March 9-April 8, thanks for the great review. We did the first 10 days in a Reserve class mini suite. Loved it. The second 10 days were in a balcony and again fabulous cabin. Did struggle with the lines for the Horizon deck 7 even though we had a reservation. The last 10 days were in an ocean view cabin and it was noisy from the engines of the ship while underway. If you are sensitive to noise and trying to stretch your dollars I recommend an inside cabin on a higher deck. I love to swim but not having an adult pool was a problem that I solved by getting my laps in early in the day before the kids too over. The food was excellent everywhere onboard. Even though the ship was full , I always managed to sit where I wanted and watch the entertainment, you just need to get there early for the events that were popular. Loved the cruise director Corrine and all her crew they did a fabulous job of keeping us entertained. I did get to see the new production show Vallora a pirate’s quest and it was fabulous. Great review

Great job on your review of The Sun!! We were on the first sailing and loved the ship as well as the ports. Our room had the extended balcony which was AWESOME and I would encourage anyone to pay extra for this layout. A must at The American Diner is the banana split with gelato. All the food on the 'constant' menu was very good.

We were on the original Sun Princess in 2003, and I must say, the new one is nothing like it but seems spectacular... the Princess Sphere Class seems to be built on the platform or "bones"" of the Carnival Excel Class, but looks completely different. We just booked an mini suite for a November (for my birthday) sailing and I'm sure we will be spending a lot of time on the ship and not that much at the ports, excepting beach ports.. the ship seems to be the star... This looks to be my favorite class ship alongside Celebrity Edge class... the new Hot Pot, Teppanyaki and Butcher Block sounds terrific and the "Eatery" seems to be an upgrade from your typical buffet.. and the cabins looks wonderful!! Definitely looks like a candidate for a second sailing.

Wow - I just can't get my head around the scale of this ship for Princess - she's so much bigger than what I'm used to from Regal etc. It looks like they've designed her really well, to allow the brand consistency to flow through here, rather than launch a totally different huge megaship to the market, which is great to see!

Hello Llana, Thanks for your review of Princess cruise line and there newest ship. My wife and I were considering our first cruise with them for a Mediterranean Europe cruise in October 2025. We also have a reservation currently for a very similar voyage on Celebrity Ascent as well. We have decided to go with Celebrity as we think the whole package is better overall. Also Celebrity is round trip out of Rome Italy and the cruise for 11 nights starts on a Monday and ends on a Friday which works out well especially traveling overseas. Also we just think Celebrity even though more expensive we are getting more. When I look at Sun princess mini suites and there bathrooms only have one sink is overall seems small for a suite just doesn't feel right. There reserved mini suit experience I don't believe is as good as say a sky suite experience on Celebrity and the retreat. Thank you for your presentation.

Oh my goodness what a beautiful ship. I am looking at her from my kitchen window in Southampton UK and wishing I was on her. Love the video and will plan my next trip and try to sail on this ship. I took my first MSC trip last year using many of your tips and recommendations, this year is another MSC trip on Virtuosa which is a much bigger ship. I chose this trip as it sails from Southampton to the med and then back, as I live near the port it seemed a great idea. The flight home from Rio last year was 10 hours and exhausting. I have come late to the world of cruising but am loving it. Thanks for the inspiring videos. I will keep watching.

We’ll be cruising the Sun Princess on 17April out of Rome. I’m so happy I stumbled on your video. it’s been about 13 years since my last cruise which was Disney. Once we embark we will be at sea for three days. We did not make any reservations at any restaurants or any set hour to eat. It was suggested by a friend to do it this way. No pressure to race to be at dinner at a certain time. Where do you recommend we have dinner on the first and second night. and which restaurant we definitely shouldn’t miss. Besides restaurants what should we not miss.

Great video ! Learned a lot ! We prefer the Royal class of ships love the dark wood and brass and classy look ! We stay in the forward suites on the Lido deck and love the area, quiet and close to most things ! But your video was excellent and we learned a lot ! Boy there are sure enough places to eat and drink ! We are not big eaters. So we usually go to the buffet for lunch and regular dining room for dinner but it’s nice for people to have such a variety of dining experiences 😍! Many thanks again for your informative video 😍

Great vid as always so thanks for that. Being on a ship with 7000 of my closest friends and hitting a port with the same group is not my idea of a good time to be sure. Hopefully those that like the new mega ships will cruise on those and leave the older smaller ships to the rest of us.

Thank you for the review of Sun Princess, I really enjoyed your review and I am very favorably impressed with this ship. If I were to go outside of the Royal Caribbean Group, other than QM2, this ship would be at the top of my choices. I have loyalty status with Carnival, however, as of 2023, the Carnival Group does not give cross brand loyalty recognition and the options within the RCG provide more than enough variety to keep me cruising without redundancy.

We’re on Sun Princess, your assessment is spot on. I like the fact that princess is still trying to figure things out with the new ship and is willing to adjust per passenger feedback. A question for you, what are your thoughts on cabin noise? We can hear what’s going on in 3 of the adjacent cabins. Sometimes to the point of understanding the conversation. We’re in a cabana suite on deck 11 for reference. The cabin is otherwise awesome and recommended.

we were scheduled to take the March 9 cruise but princess suggested we might want to take a later one. After hearing your comments and those of Other cruisers on Sun Princess, I’m looking forward to sailing on the July 20 cruise.

Thanks for reporting. For this year we are not doing any cruises. My cousin just got back from a cruise and got Covid. Then last year a group of my family also got Covid as did my husband and I a month later. Symptoms started at the end of the cruise. I don’t know of course how we caught but those packed crowded airport and cruise boarding lines may be the problem.

Yes - I think all cruises should leave a card outside your door on the last night to fill out about your cruise experience (like hotels usually did - & often still do). Feedback is important. There will be great things to comment on - & a chance to say when an experience was not as you hoped. (Online post surveys just do not ‘catch the moment’!)😎😎😎

I'm sure once things are fully functional it will all come together nicely. At least it sounds like it. It is different to have to go through areas or you have to go up cross over than back down or vice versa. I had heard about the food "specialty" areas and being open for crossing through from the pools area. Thanks Illana

We just returned from cruising on Sky Princess to the western Caribbean. I am now looking forward to cruising on Sun Princess, unfortunately it is not going where we want to go on our next cruise. Guess we will have to schedule 2 trips 😂

Great video. The ship looks very exciting. It's a shame, though, that not all of these innovations will/can make it onto their older and smaller ships. ($$$ to upgrade.) Now, though the ship looks and sounds incredible, the cabins are (out of necessity - as the ships get larger and accommodate more passengers) too narrow and the ship too populated. Newer cruisers will accept this - but people who have sailed as long as many of us have - DEFINITELY notice the difference. (Even the suites on ships have gotten smaller.)

This review makes me want to try it! I just worry with 4500 people how congested it would be; how difficult it would be to get a nice seat with a view to just sit and relax; and how difficult disembarkation would be. How was disembarkation for you?

Howdy Ilana, Am subscribed and hit the like button. Not a big drinker and don't go into the pool much. Included, nothing is free. It is either included or a fee goes along with it. Love the Crown Grill. Chianti is a very good red wine from certain areas in Tuscany. I like this elevator system. Our first experience with it was on the Carnival Vista. Ah, pizza in Sorrento. Eating times may have to be adjusted if you go on a longer shore excursion.

It looks beautiful! We sailed in 2000 on the Grand and 2018 on the Star, so ship layout was the same. Sun will be a big learning curve for us. Sadly we will not be going to any specialty restaurants because I know our flights will cost more than the cruise and we can’t pay to upgrade from our base package. No biggie, our biggest reason to cruise is to see some of Europe. We don’t drink either so package upgrade doesn’t make sense for us. We are excited to try French and Italian foods on our port days. Thank you for this review because it really does help me to get an idea of what to expect. Happy sailings! 🎉❤

Would love additional comments from people who have been on this as to whether the buffet does or does not tend to have lines? I believe I just heard that there weren't any lines for the most part but JJ said just the opposite

Looks lovely and so glad you had a great cruise. Disappointing to hear there are only 4 solo cabins. Between this and the huge price increase for Internet, Princess has fallen from grace for me. Still sailing with them in January, but they've lost any kind of loyalty I may have felt. Did you buy any of those pretty dresses in Crete?
