Q:What camera do you use?
A: I use the Go Pro Hero 7 Black Edition primarily. Often times you will see auxillary cameras in use. Those cameras include The Go Pro Hero 6, Hero, and DJI Mavic Pro Platinum
Q: How big Is your rotator?
A: It is a 50 ton Miller Industries Vulcan 950
Q: Does the carriage slide back like Ron Pratt's?
A: No, the carriage doesn't slide back due to strict weight laws in California. The sliding carriage will make the truck to heavy in CA
Q: Why do you only have 3 winches on the rotator?
A: Comes down to weight again as stated above
Q: How many trucks Does Plaza Towing have?
A: Currently more than 30
Q: Why must the driveshaft be removed to tow a vehicle?
A: When vehicles are not running the transmission is not receiving circulating lubricant. If the driveshaft is left installed, the transmission, which is not receiving lubricant, is still spinning. This allows it to get very hot which eventually will cause major damage to the transmission. Therefore, removing the driveshaft completely eliminates the transmission from spinning. Simply leaving it in neutral is not sufficient since the transmission still spins in neutral.

I don't know if I had mentioned this before or not, when you tighten the bolt in the (for lack of better word) horseshoes, tighten them then turn them back out 1/4 to 1/2 turn and they will still hold OK, but you should be able to loosen them by hand much easier. Good job - you & your dad working together. Is "he" still the boss when it comes to running the 'Tator? (LOL)

Thanks Trent, ? on the Rotator why is the Feet on the OutRigers a defrent Size. 👍
@silentepsilon888
@silentepsilon888 5 жыл бұрын
the feet plates are larger in the front because they have to support more weight than the ones in the back. The ones in the front have to support the entire front of the truck including engine, while the plates in the back only have to support the weight of the back (plus load). If the plates are larger, the weight gets distributed over a larger area and that reduces the pressure on the ground and makes is less likely to dig (sink) into the ground under pressure, even if they do not use the black weight mats underneath them.

After watching your video I continually every time I see you and your dad working together and very impressed and very happy to see if father and son who actually get along really well. My dad and I we just don't get along very well now on the job. That's why we parted ways and I got business ties from him and at this point in time I am preparing to start my next venture because now that I've reached 25 and have had 20 years out in the outdoor industry of Mowing and Landscaping and all that stuff and farm life I'm done my body can't handle all that physical menial labor anymore. I just want to get out and drive get out and haul loads put my technical skills to use have a blast doing it. Thank you for so much inspiration. Thank you for no matter what keeping your cool and your dad as well I love seeing a father and son who work really well together and I can honestly say it puts a smile on my face. as a young man who doesn't smile very much it means a huge deal do you need to be able to smile. you two are honestly one of the few KZfaqrs in the entire KZfaq community that are totally real totally honest and totally professional and as little drama as possible. by all means find me on Facebook the photo you see here in my profile as an older photo can you find my page you'll know it.

It is guaranteed that if you have not had I need to pull out the massive hydraulic Jackhammer attachment for the excavator buy the last home you're going to need to on the last hole and that's a bet you could take to the bank every day of the week. I see right here in about the 20 minute mark where you're facing that same reality I did when I was building a barn come on you darn thing just go into the hole dot dot.

For a variety of reasons, I got started watching tow truck videos (probably due in part to that BC winter thing) while I was on business in India a couple of months ago -- not much else to do. I drove commercial in the late '70s -- overdimensional in 47 of the 48 states, so know a little bit about trucking in general (or did then). Plus which, I'm a mechanical engineer and understand free-body diagrams really well -- any towing operation is a free-body diagram in real life. Anyway, I've watched three different sources of these videos, and Plaza stands up really well -- I enjoy watching them break in their new high-dollar Miller rotator,, in addition to all the earlier conventional stuff. The guy in IL (1140) is excellent also, but I'm a bit put off by the guy in MO -- he's a bit too dramatic like TV "reality" shows) and condescending for my tastes. Either way, this stuff is great, and Plaza does a nice job of just getting on with it in an efficient fashion. Well done!

Nice video Trent. Question: why don't you store these footplates (is that the right name?) each two at both sides ? That saves time not walking around the truck every time :-) And if you tighten the shackles, fasten it and than turn it 1/4 back. That way it doesn't get stuck and you don't need a crawbar :-)

Noob question: Why are the feet on the rear outriggers so small? The ones in the front seem like the right size.
@Coonass
@Coonass 5 жыл бұрын
I'd say because they have more of a load towards the front. They've got the cab, motor, drivetrains and other stuff compared to the weight towards the rear of the truckx even when under load.

Questions on this one.... 1. Did you have 'hard copy' certification of the total weight of the container? (NOT just somebody's guess...) 2. How did you evaluate the balance of the container?
@plazatowing
@plazatowing 5 жыл бұрын
The hardcopy on the container weight was in kilograms so when converted we came up with 17,XXX pounds. We rounded up to 20,000 to be safe. As for evaluating the balance we opened up the container and determined it was relatively balanced. We also assumed the sea container cranes had to of had the container somewhat level to pick it up anyway. Putting that aside the rigging used was adequate enough to assume all the weight (20,000 lbs) on one side of the rigging. Hopefully, that answers your question Thanks for watching!
