On the first rock your strap is what is called a one slip danger. You can make this type of hold back safer by using a truck tire chain that would give you more of a basket hold on the rock. Good video, stay safe out there.

Lol that first rock you had winched up was giving me some real 146 Hours vibes. As a tow truck operator in the past, I know personally how fast things can slip so I sure as hell wouldn't have been under any rock that was lifted! Please be safer next time and assess the risk. Several things could have gone wrong there. No amount of gold is more important than losing your legs or being pinned and dying there.

I've got loads of new places to go now. I was out yesterday and got a couple of tiny specs in the first pan and found a fossil,some cool rocks and a piece of a big Roman jug I think. I was drawn to this place a couple of fields from my house a have found what looks like a old foundation or wall of a building about 15 feet underground where a stream has eroded the bank away. I will upload the video today. You should watch it and tell me what you think about it. I think it's right up your street. Great video man👍 everyone needs to get out to stay healthy!! Happiness is the best cure for anything.😉😊💛🌟✨

Nice to see alternative ways to prospect...as most guys just use pry bars to try to move the big rocks. I'd probably get a come along too though there isn't always a nearby tree to anchor to in wider streams.

I dont know what camera/lens system you use, but a circular polarizer on the lens will make it so you can cut the reflection off of the water when filming outside. Very easy to use and while they can get expensive, Im sure a less expensive one will work just fine for your purpose. Thanks for sharing your adventures around this great state!

Now you have me flashing back to my years as an Ironworker. Rigging up those rocks was slick, but you need a nice hydraulic jack and some cribbing to deal with those bigger boulders! Maybe you cold get a nice 4100 Manitowoc in there 😉

Remember depending on where you prospect and how lucky you are determines the amount of gold you’ll find. Even in the richest areas a few 5 gallon buckets may only produce a few flakes

I live in Colorado. There was a river once I saw that was full of speckles out when I was exploring the mountains. I should get back there and pan some.

I always bring a gold pan with me, and pan around if I'm in a legal area. So sure, just make sure you do your research so that you're legal! Good luck!

you know Shane... I wonder if a guy could make some man-made "natural" crevices in the summer that you could come back to after spring, to allow for flooding and snow melt. Shoot, I bet you could even geo-engineer a section in a river to create low pressure spots and eddys that lead directly to a crevice or some other gold trap that makes it easy to collect. I'm sure someone has already tried this, but it was just an idea i had.

There's a lot of interesting structure exposed in that stream channel. I can't tell, but your first, too big rock looks schistic, and with a granitic intrusion. The earth, she's a churnin'. Good to see you out and about.

Bro,,,, a few more ratchets to flip the rocks over and being safe is nothing compared to one falling on you.. last thing ya want is a direct trip to covid town.. stay safe brother, great to listen to the creek

It’s all good, I trusted much weaker tubular nylon webbing in my military parachutes for years, and yeah I had some fail, but it’s all good training 😂

It’s very difficult to get 100% gold recovery at the river. But yeah I like the river sound too

Shàne,drop a basketball size rock in the crack, give your self a fighting chance if the strop slips or Murphy trips over the come along. Watching in level 3 lockdown in NZ

Please dont take risks with leaving rocks being held in place with the winch strap,if moving them always get them into a place where they will rest without being held by the winch strap,they can and do slip and you really dont want a big rock on your foot mate.
