"We need to be deeply aware of what the purpose of coming to church on Sunday is and make sure that everyone who comes feels loved, needed, accepted, and lifted." We are to be examples of Jesus Christ, his disciples, and in order to do so we must see others as him and our Father in Heaven do. No matter how hard it may be to look past their imperfections- Christ and God have done that with us. And we must do that with our fellow men, something I myself need to work on as well.

If you were asking a genuine question- I invite you to explore the many talks and discussions on your question. If you wished to cause contention- I hope you focus on more positive things in life- and that you understand the love God has for you.. "...the Church firmly believes that all people are equally beloved children of God and deserve to be treated with love and respect." Former Church president Gordon B. Hinckley (1910-2008) told members who are attracted to the same sex: “Our hearts reach out to [you]. We remember you before the Lord, we sympathize with you, we regard you as our brothers and sisters.” President Boyd K. Packer affirmed, “We do not reject you. … We cannot reject you. … We will not reject you, because we love you.” www.lds.org/topics/same-gender-attraction?lang=eng

I'm in a ward for young single adults. I'd just like to say, "Amen." Church and church functions have been a refuge for me. A sanctuary, if you will. I go throughout my day wrestling all sorts of things, the biggest one being the deep scars, habits, and expectations I've developed from years of bullying and abuse (I've told a few friends and everyone but one person responded "Andrew I never would have guessed if you hadn't told me."), and I come to church and FHE and people like me. And that makes it a safe place. The songwriter Jewel sings "I have this theory, that if we're told we're bad then that's the only idea we'll ever have, but maybe if we are surrounded in beauty someday we will become what we see." I definitely find this in my life. Love of friends thaws the cold, hard parts of my heart and helps me feel God's love. Now I'm learning to love myself. It's about time. Then I believe God might love me. I already know in my head that he does, but this makes it SOOOOO much easier to start knowing in my heart. I couldn't, would never do this without friends. Sister McConkie was right. God sends us the right people. We're among the right people sent. Please, go get to it. Someone needs you.

I had such a poor experience with the Evangelical Church. Our pastor would, instead of preaching love and acceptance, preach hate. I left the church four weeks before my supposed confirmation and never looked back, traumatised by what this man had been teaching and telling everyone. I pretty much had written off the church for years but I stumbled upon a girl on Instagram and she was talking about her faith and the LDS. I was intrigued, because the LDS isn’t common where I am from and I started to read the Book of Mormon and just anything I could get my hands on. It’s like Christ has been guiding me onto this path that, a few years ago, I would have never even considered. I am still hesitant to join, given my poor experience, but it’s so incredibly comforting to know and see and experience that things can be different. The love of Christ is real and it’s so touching for me to see that there are people preaching this instead of hate and fear.

Hi Rebecca, thank you for your comment. We're so glad you're here! It is very brave of you to meet with the missionaries and to follow your heart to learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ after the experience you shared. Trust in the promise that as you read the Book of Mormon, act on the things the missionaries are teaching you, and pray to God to know the truth that He will answer you. He will guide you to know the right path for you! Keep going, keep trying. You or others may be interested in reading the inspiring message below from a Church leader who shared his own conversion story: www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2019/04/24held?lang=eng. The Church also recently published the conversion story of Elder Peter Johnson as he searched for light in his life: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bdGSg8qCy9LUZH0.html Take care!

This was a loving video, and a reminder when I came back to church after 23 years I was so welcomed loved. I felt Christ’s love and felt like I belonged. One of my favorite things to do now is to show those in my ward or those that want to belong Christs love for them I agree he uses us to bless others by a smile or hug or just a how are you today. I am eternally grateful for the gospel for this reason

My bishop says his favorite phrase is "show up" because often times that's what we do to show God we are willing to be led. When we "show up" to anything He wants us to be at He will lead us to where we're meant to be, because we have a desire to be there.

This comes from the official LDS website Mormon and Gay. When you hear her words with that in mind, it is a very powerful example of how we are to love and welcome our LGBTQ brothers and sisters who too often feel judged and rejected by our church community. Let's never say things from the pulpit, in the classrooms, or any other setting that would lead any vulnerable person to think, "God could not possibly love me and I don't belong here."

So which is really what they believe? I went to a lds web to learn more about the lds church and their mission statement said they believe gay and les lifestyle is a sin. I realize the Bible says that, but what does the lds church promote?
@churchofjesuschrist
@churchofjesuschrist 4 жыл бұрын
Hi @stacy jobe, thanks for your question. People who experience same-sex attraction or identify as gay, lesbian, or bisexual can make and keep covenants with God and fully and worthily participate in the Church. Identifying as gay, lesbian, or bisexual or experiencing same-sex attraction is not a sin and does not prohibit one from participating in the Church, holding callings, or attending the temple. To learn more, we encourage your to visit www.churchofjesuschrist.org/topics/gay/?lang=eng.

@@churchofjesuschrist thanks, So what about in Romans when it says that some who will fall into same sex acts that's not natural are sinning. I thought as long as they, like us all who sin, are repentent and in recovery over it because of Gods forgiveness. But if a person continues without repentance it's then sin. Like for example, if I'm having sex out of marriage it's sin. Wether gay or straight, fornication. ( I'm straight) Two different sins. Fornication applying to gays or straight is one sin and the other being unnatural attractions to same gender.🤔

Me again, I went back to the page of the church of Jesus Christ latter day saints to make sure I read it correctly and it definitely said that they don't believe in same sex relationships. I wonder if we are looking at two different latter day religions.

I felt unloved and uninspired in one ward for many years, i reached out, but it fell on deaf ears had no good friends, no callings, but I stuck it out for the sake of my family. I did sharey concerns to some and all I got was I wasn't truly converted and that i needed to work on my personal testimony. nice. haven't been to church since them. I don't break the word of wisdom or anything I just don't go to meetings. I've sinceoved to another state/city here in Australia but going to church isn't one of my priorities right now. one day.

I can see how it would be difficult, I for many years felt excluded by the young women my age. I never felt like I fit in with them and felt very lonely. But now, years later, I think having that experience has made my life better. I see so many people in my current ward who feel very similar to how I felt back then. The gospel doesn't compartmentalize, people do. I hope that one day you'll make it back to church, and maybe use your experience as a stepping stone to help others who feel lonely. I've realized that since no one held my hand in that period of time, it's my duty more than ever to hold the hands of others around me. I hope the same for you, and I'm sorry that you spend many years feeling sad.

Sorry to hear this. I have a friend who just moved out of a ward that he felt this same way. It's the first time he has not had at least one good friend in a ward and he has lived in probably over 20 wards. It is an exception, not the rule. He just recently moved out after about 3 years. I haven't talked with him about his new ward as it's only been a week or two. We are all sinners and as Christ said the whole need no physician. That's what the church is for. Some of us just need it a bit more than others and could probably use your strength.

"The Gospel of Jesus Christ does not marginalise people. People marginalise people" Sister Carol F. Mcconkie speaks with a heart of love, not law. Her message shows the authentic message of Jesus, not one contaminated by human beings, power struggles and dominant cultural attitudes. So, please don't let people walk away from the church unloved, unneeded and feeling judged! It's about time those members who understand spoken English well in Thailand came to terms with meaning "Lifting Others" that it is more than just words that say or lips that pray with a heart of love to act, not ache!
