I explain the concept of watts per gallon and its limitations, I offer a potential alternative to watts per gallon in the form of lumens per liter.

I am experimenting with Chinese 200 watt = 23000 lumen on a part of my aquarium, where there are a some anubias, Java fern and some rotalas type stem plants, how do you react to this?

I am confused, is it 3lumen/L or 30lumen/L? 6000lumen for a 200L tank sounds like an awefull lot.

3 lumen per litre or 30 lumen per gallon

It is 30 lumen per litre, 200 litre is massive so 6000 lumens is correct. A larger lightbulb can have 2000+ lumen so you could either hang three led bulbs or get 1 or 2 led flood lights

thankyou. i use CDL Lamp form Philips. Branded LED like Philips is more efficient than aquascape lamp from aquatic accessories

So based on your calculations , considering that I have an aquarium of 125 liters 77cm long, 37cm height, 38cm deep, what roughly estimated of lumens to use would be ??? Of course as you said before, doesn't have to be exact but only an estimated. Thank you again!
