Light Rock Fishing South Shields

A full day Lrf fishing with my nephew fishing Three different locations in south shields on the same day catching a good verity of species on the rockfish L rods.
I lost count of how many fish we had but i think Tyler won the day.

Love this. Great to see the lad getting into the fishing plus as a guy from North Shields now living in Southampton you're videos are making me homesick! 😢

Gary wood I have fished since I was 9 years old mate. I'm now 57. I started fishing the ferry landing and fish Quay at North Shields when the Tyne was an open sewer. It's cleaner now isn't it! Over last 35 years it's been coarse fishing but this year I'm getting back to the sea and fishing local marks on the Solent and Southampton Water with limited success so far but my mantra has always been its being out there that matters and catching is a bonus. Tight lines! 👍

Excellent Paul. Aye the Tyne is cleaner now i remember fishing the sewage pipes in Hebburn and Jarrow when i was younger we used to get some massive flattys they must have been eating all the stuff coming out the pipes lol. I agree its being out there that matters. Tight lines mate.

Thanks, usually around Camels Island at Marsden bay and along the leas. Also, the river tyne at mill dam and the walkway.

Can’t seem to get this to work for me tried loads of lures isome worms every colour thin strip of quid had nothing not even a nibble is it because it’s winter?

Hi Scotty, yes it's quite slow going this time of the year. It should get better in spring and summer.

Fishing on the stone pier yesterday and a guy caught a Dragonet and a small cod which at this time of year are VERY rare on the stone pier

Size 14 hook and a TINY bit of rag worm mate, that's what they use here and down a harbour wall seems best

you been for any macky this year gary. apart from the frenchmans bay. i been to blyth n had a few, wondering where else is good for them there was few people on shields today

Not yet Steely. I haven't got around to it yet i need to tho so i can fill the freezer for winter bait. I think the best place around here for them is shields pier, there has been a few caught from the walkway at high tide but not sure how many.

cheers gary iff u going anytime soon let me know might have a look down cos never fished shields before is there a spot near the end without rocks cos they always put me off but i was wondering iff there is anywhere without the rocks near the end

I don't think i will be getting on the pier until next month got to much work on at the min. There are rocks all around the pier close in but about a 30 to 40 yd cast should put you on to clear sand from the brigade hut up to the first gate and if you want to fish the top from 44 to the blocks will give you the best chance of getting onto clear ground. If you are just fishing for mackerel a couple of hours before and after high water will have a canny depth of water to stop you getting snagged on the bottom.

I use Mackerel and rag worm the most, the more you go the better you will get at it.
