Imagine arriving at House B+B. You wouldn't walk straight through a door. Instead, your journey begins with an architectural experience. A long, smooth ramp on the east side of the house beckons you upwards. As you ascend, sunlight plays hide and seek through the innovative concrete wall beside you. This isn't just any wall; it's a marvel of design, crafted with hollowed-out sections that cast intriguing patterns of light throughout the day. Not only is it beautiful, but it also provides welcome shade and protection from the elements, making this ramp a delightful in-between space - neither fully inside nor outside.
This intriguing entrance is a subtle homage to Brazilian modernism. The architects, studio mk27, drew inspiration from the era's bold use of ramps and the influential ideas of Le Corbusier, who championed the concept of the architectural promenade - a purposeful, enriching journey through a building. The sense of transition here is deliberate, blurring the lines between interior and exterior, making you feel like you're constantly discovering new aspects of the house
