I... feel like I'm living the exact same life Sinix lived. I had no idea he had gone through that. But I've been stuck at home, talking to no one, cutting ties with everyone, having 0 social life for years, satisfying myself with nothing but games *but* getting but at art. I also started art the same age as him - around 19 - and I'm going through that phase while I'm in my mid-twenties, just like him. It's crazy... Hopefully I can still fix everything the same way he did as well, soon. Thank you so much for talking about all of that, it's eye-opening, and very reassuring in a way to know that one of of the artist I look up to a lot has actually gone through almost the same shit I'm going through.

@@yoyolol22 I was living this way way before the pandemic, and so was Sinix. Next time don't talk if you don't know what other people go through, or actually if you don't even understand the subject and can't connect two neurons together. The pandemic times were actually laughable for someone like me, but made me happy because other people started to understand what my dumb life was back then. (I'm out of this hellish loop btw, I managed to fix that shit, my initial comment is over a year old.)

This is the kind of talk i generally need but don’t often find online - the connection between your life/childhood/traumas and your life, i really enjoy the points and anecdotes that are brought up by Sinix and Ahmed here. Makes them so much more relatable and opens points of view I don’t often consider (especially when it comes to making connections with people from different backgrounds). Also the two are my literal favorites, so happy to listen to both of them at the same time

Check out healthygamergg, he's a therapist who streams talks with other streamers or gamers/His own viewers about their problems and its pretty much the same thing ahmed talks about here. It helped me a lot to listen to his streams with my own mental health

Terrrrryl! This speech was great too :::) Sinix, Robert, talks about isolation aka full vampire mode. I think a lot of ppl go through this phase. Kids go outside, make trouble with friends & paint. Don’t miss holidays/ family events. Don’t have to be the extreme Extremist, you’ll need “Farge it!” moments= take time to breathe. Ahmed’s crumpled paper story is a Great outlook as an adult, mentally healing. We all have tons of parts to our childhoods we eventually need to cope with. Sometimes figure out it’s not such a big deal. And Golem impression! 28:08 Patience sucks however it’s more about progress..Thanks for sharing guys.

The driving anecdote reminded me of the first time I drove. My dad and I drove around our neighborhood and when I was backing up I almost hit some logs. My dad screamed and cursed at me as we went home telling me that I almost wrecked his truck and when I started to cry he told me I didn’t have any reason to. It was nice to hear that someone else had a similar experience especially when Ahmed mentioned that his dad is a different person now because my dad has also changed since the, but I’m still mad at who he was then.

The artist mentioned at 44:14 is Tim Gula, he was featured on Proko a few times. Loved his excercises, it was (still is) damn hard stepping out of being all technical and try and draw intuitively.

"I didn't get into art until late in the game, when I was 19/20" Really? 20 years old is 'late in the game'?
@EbbFlowe
@EbbFlowe 3 жыл бұрын
I personally didn't start drawing AT ALL until about 18, and more seriously starting at about 22. Currently almost 32 now, I can look back and say that 19/20 is not actually that late lol. But I would tend to agree that it's late in the game, compared to a lot of professional or just skilled artists that "have been drawing for as long as they can remember". When you're in those late teens/early 20s, you're fresh off of losing all of that seemingly unlimited free time from being a kid, you become more cognizant of difficulty and failure, and the pressure to get really good, really fast is starting to mount (if you want to suddenly turn art into a career). So in a lot of ways, starting even just that late can set you back a lot, compared to your peers of the time who might already have 5 years worth of experience on them or more just from drawing for fun.
