I have to agree with the rest of the comments. A complete novice to laser engraving and most of the tutorials assume that you are an expert with computers and I was getting swamped. This is exactly what I need and far superior to anything else I have watched, thank you.

Hands down the best 101 video that I've seen! Including the videos from the "company". I appreciate all of the people out there making videos to help us out, however this one really should be at the top for those of us who are beginning. I’ve had my laser for two years and I immediately paid for light burn because everyone said it was the best. But I’ve been so frustrated with different things for instance I would bring an image in trace it to see if the line at the bottom was going to burn into the image, then go into gimp to crop it then export back to light burn. All I’m saying is I’ve learned more in 30 minutes than I did in two years. I’ve subscribed to the channel and will watching more videos and this one over again

This video is amazing, I am so glad I found it on KZfaq, I've had my laser for almost a year and have learned more watching these videos than I have in almost a year of watching others. Thank you. Quick question on the line and fill selection is there any way to keep the line after fill setting to something slower at all times, mine defaults to 6000 mm everytime, I ask this knowing that I can change it from 6000 mm to what I want, but sometimes I forget to and after a a fine fill it goes wild and jostles the whole laser. Thanks again.

Thank you Rick! I really appreciate the comments! ✔ To your question... Yes Sir, you can. Draw a square, and then on the Cuts / Layers tab, double click the layer to bring up the cut settings editor. Enter the default speed and power that you always want to start at, and then at the bottom of the window, click the box that says, Make Default for All. Hope that helps you!

I give God credit for everything including people like you. This was hands down a video that works better than any anxiety medicine I could take. We just received our eight boxes or so with our new XD1 Pro and I felt totally overwhelmed. It has been one of those things where you can not wait for it to get here and - oh no now that it is here where do I start. I enjoyed the pace you went and how well you did explaining and showing and sometime reshowing how to do something. Thanks again!

Great video Rich, I look forward to checking out the rest of your series! Maybe just to add some detail to the selection tool part of your vid: By dragging starting from the top left, it will only select any shape that is completely within the selection box. By dragging starting from the bottom right, any object TOUCHING the selection box will be selected. This is very helpful when your workspace gets a bit cluttered. Hope this helps!

I can't even begin to express how invaluable this video is! I recently bought an XTool D1 Pro 20w laser and after countless hours of watching videos that were well intentioned but less than helpful (not to mention the unimagninable number of rabbit holes I went down), I finally stumbled upon your video. Awesome tutorial. After watching several other so-called tutorials, this one was the most helpful. To the point, no annoying music, no home-grown shortcuts. No more need to bring up paint or photo shop to manipulate images.

Excellent Tutorial Video for Lightburn. Very well explained, no nonsense, and distracting music, sound effects, pop-ups, etc... Too bad more people don't do their videos like this. Wish i had discovered your channel much sooner.

Multiple times in this video I had to pause it and put my hands on my skull to make sure my brain hadn't literally exploded. These tools are so unbelievably powerful and you've explained them so simply that I almost can't fathom the opportunities you've opened. Thanks for the great video, I learned a few things that I was doing the hard way. I didn't even notice the offset button! I've been double drawing and checking measurements. Dang that takes alot of time. The whitespace trick is definitely something I'm going to look into in the morning too!

This is incredibly clear and straightforward, thanks very much. Now I'm going to look for a video in your pile that talks to line versus offset fill and raster versus screen fills. But this was by far the best starting point i have found with light burn

Thanks Rich, another great video on using Lightburn. Currently, I don't own a Laser Etcher or Lightburn software but plan to in the near future and your videos are giving me a good headstart. The plan is to brand my woodwork projects. 👍

Sounds great! Branding irons are expansive, and you're struck with one size and design. I think everyone is moving to laser engravers for branding.
