Destiny 2 Lightfall - Solo Legendary Campaign Mission "Desperate Measures" - Mission #8 Full Completion - Final Mission & Lightfall Ending Cutscenes. Just a video showing my first solo playthrough completion of the campaign on legend difficulty, finishing with the final mission Desperate Measures, and a Solo Legendary Calus defeat.

For now I was posting all of the Solo Legendary Campaign missions, but I'll post two compilation videos after I'm done with the post-campaign quest. One for all the cutscenes during Lightfall, the second being a full campaign playthrough including every mission, dialogue in between missions and all the post campaign content. Should have them both up later today I hope, as there looks to be quite a few post campaign quests.
Wiped on Calus due to being careless in the final phase so redid the whole thing. I was thinking I'd be able to take a melee attack from him, but he doubled hit me - woops.

Bro the cheese takes way longer because a couple guys I tried it with were doing it wrong, you can still get hit behind the stairs. You have not only the boss but the 2 tormentors. It took me 2-3 searches before I go a guy that was higher enough level and had their strand stuff complete and knew how to defend right behind the boxes. The grapple is a bit of a waste to use and I had no grenades since you don’t get that stuff until after campaign completion. Took about 3-5 tries, did better than the guy before me assisting who quit on me, I got through the 2nd attempt quicker than him. I only messed up once on 2nd boss phase because I was rushing to grapple into a safe spot and kind of swung out. 2nd time my super almost did it and I only had so little time to run m, turn and Gjallarhorn last rocket or 2 I had to finish him off. Even the mission boss just before Calus the cheese takes too long, too risky to be sniped and Vex just keep piling and piling. I had 1 guy that could better handle them with the grenades and I didn’t bother grappling, just stayed near the center to avoid the rotating gate.

That’s why there’s infinite grapple points…I was on a warlock and only died a couple times to that because of getting stuck under the platform, which can be avoided

I like how everyone is dying to tormentors meanwhile I'm dying in the second phase because calus moves at lightspeed. Using a linear and being across the map to a tormentor helped me.

Fun trick: on my warlock I found a Chill clip fushion rifle worked well against the tormentors. I'd break their shoulders, lure them to the end walkways, and when they'd jump I would freeze them and use my grapple to slam them off the end. Two hits and they would literally just fall off the end of the platform. I found it to be the sweetest of vengeance after all the times I would get suppressed and knocked off the edge.

I died over 30 times in this fight trying to do it solo legend on warlock and 80% of the deaths were me getting yeeted off the map by either calus, the cabal on each side or the annoying ass tormenters suppressing me mid jump. Edit : after immense stress I finally did it. I used witherhoard for boss as well as an energy AR then I used a crafted linear with chill clip to hit crits on the tormentors.

This is hilarious because I had the same issue. Switched to Witherhoard and Ammit, and kept my LMG I was using already. Still died like 10 more times to random yeeting, but this worked out for me, too.

Man I actually enjoyed this campaign a lot. The narrative wasn’t as strong as I’d hoped and a lot of concepts weren’t fully explained, but the gameplay was great. Strand hunter is really fun, especially in the final mission during the courtyard fight. Tons of strand spots meant I was constantly diving in to suspend enemies for my teammates and then pulling myself to safety, never had that kind of gameplay in Destiny before.

for people who want to do strand in this boss fight, I suggest u use Karnstein armlet, it will make you life so much easier with those health regen

Having to do this solos, so far….49 deaths, 648 kills 2 hours. and I still can’t beat the first phase. As soon as the tormentor hits the room I struggle. This campaign has been exceptionally difficult and is a welcome change. But it’s been overdone. They’re extremely difficult to beat and it removes from the fun of the story. Having to redo this final encounter over and over with nothing to show for it has been thoroughly disheartening. It’s now 6:30am U.K. Time and I’ve been playing since launch, I had to abandon it in hopes that rest and a fresh look at it later on after sleeping will help. GG’s to anyone doing this solo and has completed it. I am insanely jealous and impressed.

@@meatman3213 Yup, I realized this too, blinding GL works pretty well on the tormentors, they slow down a lot and you can get a few precision shots in no sweat.

Just clear out one side, kill all the adds, then fight the tormentor and if he gets too far into the platform then grapple away. That’s how I did it

Commemoration was a gamechanger for me. With Killing tally x3, reconstraction and Boss spec you can kill the tormentor in one mag from pretty safe distance. Paired it with witherhoard for damage and Strand for movement.

You can glitch away from Calus’s spiny pyramid ability if you crouch into the corner underneath the control panel things close to the center on each platform. You won’t take any damage and won’t get a debuff there, you just have to be underneath the keyboard and not in the corner of the platform. That’s really the hardest part, I did it on a hunter on legendary so I had essentially no way to heal. I used Ager’s Scepter, ikelos smg with voltshot, and any rocket launcher will do. You’ll get a decent amount of heavy ammo drops so you need a rocket launcher to take out the strand shielded enemies quickly. It will do decent damage to Calus as well. I would say maybe a linear if you can hit all of your shots on the tormentors, otherwise just use your super to take out the first one and use the rest of it on Calus, go to other platforms and farm for special and heavy and repeat.

That half where we were fighting with Caiatl against the Shadow Legion? I wanted that to be the climax. A complete scrum between loyalist and imperial Cabal with the Empress and Calum duking it out while we're in that scrum beating tormentors. It felt like the climactic high came and went...too soon.

Killing those tormentors in the boss room is so key. Once you get rid of them, Calus is practically free.

I used Void Hunter with Sixth Coyote (100 mobility double invis dodge) and it practically gives you a free “go invisible and heal button”. It also helps you rotate the room around the sides. In the final phase it lets you get distance from Calus easy. I used Witherhoard, Gnawing Hunger and Chill Clip rockets. Using Witherhoard on Calus and then focusing on Tormentors is amazing for room control and multitasking. Not to mention Shadowshot practically instakills the Tormentors after you break both shoulders.

Gonna be real, dying to gravity in lever difficulty almost made this level unpacked for me since I just couldn't get the hang of going fast with the grapple hook, so thanks for showing a different way of getting to the second platform. I swear I never saw it. I just thought they wanted you to only grapple the ships

I used titan with strand, witherhoard, a scout and a linear for the heavy. Just keep running around shooting witherhoard at Calus until the "phase" is done, and use the linear for tormentors (they go down in about 10 shots total). *Strand is good because the tangles take away ~30% of Calus' shield.* After you get the second tormentor down just keep running in circles and taking out the cabal with strand shields while shooting witherhoard and any linear you have left on Calus, Second phase i literally just bolted around the room while shooting witherhoard at him. *Strand is good here aswell, because even the regular abilities deal a good amount of damage.* The super is also really good if you have it. I did this on legendary in about 5 tries, my best tip is to always keep moving and take out the strand-shielded cabal (pretty sure they´re the ones who knock you off the map). Strand saved me a lot with all the grappling points. Please ask questions and i´ll try to answer them :)

Shoot down the ship before u place down your rally flag. It’ll help conserve your ammo bc you’ll need it for the 2nd ship before u jump to that 2nd island/platform

Make sure you are at light level. Sure, sounds stupid, but I spent over 2 hours struggling with the boss fight because I was trying to best him at -40 lmao

@@gearguru4142- I know I’m WAY late to the party and you’ve either figured it out or managed past it, but if not as crazy as it sounds, drop your framerate. There’s an occasional bug with certain enemies (ships being one of them) that if your FR is 60+, their attack one shots you. If you drop your frames to 30, you’d be surprised how much you can tank. Luckily it’s not many enemies.

Got to the second phase and died immediately to Bering booped off the map to Calus. I’m getting better at solo content, so it’s designs like the last room of the second phase that annoys me. Because running track is more annoying than it is hard. Especially while dealing with all the fodder. Witch Queen’s stages actually look like there was some thought out into them.

Mission is bugged for me, after interacting with the strand, the cabal ship doesn't move in the beginning. Tried loading many times, it just stays there not moving. I even shot it down and nothing changed.

Update: didn't work. Got to second phase more but he never stopped charging me and I went down in 2 hits quickly every time. I can't get him to back up like in the video at all.

That final fight, even with cheesing the first phase I’m immediately dead in the second…I wonder what the stats will be for guardians who make it to that last fight and never finish to unlock strand. What a pain in the ass. Stasis was a grind, but at least it wasn’t this shit.

I managed to complete the final encounter with calus on my first try on legendary mode. All I done is sat at the back with arbalest and a machine gun. When the tormentors spawned I just killed them with arbalest as it does so much damage. Then used my machine gun on calus. On the second phase of calus, I just used arbalest and whenever he got close to me I would grapple to the other side of the arena and headshots him a few times before grappling to the other end of the arena when calus got close to me. Arbalest is op for this battle and would recommend using it to anyone who gets stuck

I am always amazed at your skills, captivating to watch. Having seen various reviews on this expansion and it’s [lack of] story line, not convinced I should put the effort to do this mission on legendary. Uninspiring gameplay design and mechanics too. In some way, pretty much copy and paste from all the previous ones. But…, you are awesome at this. Thank you for sharing.

OK Esoterickk I'm lost here. Mainly with how you're able to lower calus's shield without using Strand. I thought you used the orbs generated by certain strand abilities that you can pick up and hurl them at calus to lower his shield and the only way to permanently keep it from coming back was by killing the tormentors because I tried this fight on classic and i still had trouble with constantly getting killed because of the tormentors and other factors and I was over the 1750 requirement if not by much.

As someone who is a dedicated arbie user on a void lock in struggling with this a lot. I can burst damage him into the bottom 10% of his first phase health but then my ammo runs out. Any suggestions?

I know you’re probably well past this now, but anybody else whose running constantly low on ammo because you’re doing laps and can’t get to the middle for bricks: “shoot to loot” can be a lifesaver. Find a ranged weapon that has it.

CHEESE STRAT INCOMING: I'm stealing this from another commenter who I will credit when I find their name. Edit: the user was @BJ. They're floating around the comments. If you use this strategy thank them when you see them. You can cheese this fight as of right now. This most likely will get patched. You can hide underneath the stairs as you enter the arena. You can even drop a banner from down there. I basically used striga to damage the boss and then a linear to drop the tormentors from under there. YOU WILL STILL TAKE DAMAGE! but you will take way, way less and can crouch and crawl forward and hide under the bridge to regen. Be sure to stay directly under the stairs as the boss moves to phase two and you will be teleported up top. Otherwise you'll be pretty much trapped unless you can manage to grapple up. For phase two of the fight when the boss goes melee mode I suggest being in Strand with a witherhoard. You have enought time to swap before he changes forms. The reason strand is amazing for this section is you just play spider-man. Swing around and your witherhoard WILL AUTOLOAD AS YOU GRAPPLE. Pepper him with witherhoard shots as you swing around and he'll never touch you. Additionally you can start the encounter from under the stairs. Just crawl forward towards the center of the arena while you stand on the pipe.

Did this on a strand hunter with 100 res and 100 disc if anyone is curious with frostees but it doesn't matter as long as you have that extra res you'll be fine.

Just came back to this after cheesing it the first time with better gear. Mountaintop ALH/Recomb, Apex Predator B&S and sunshot with radiant perks and then Well of Radiance and Empowering rift melts this guy without having to kill a single ad or tormentor. It’s 1000x easier to mountaintop jump on top of the dome and cheese phase 2, but if you want the challenge, swap to forerunner and hit your shots to get the tormentors down quickly and then finishing move one with armour charges to get special ammo back for calus

So… just a reskinned Colossus and gladiator? I knew something was wrong when he picked up a mini gun. Where’s the flare? The power? Idek why I was expecting this super powerful man that could clap his hands and send you to an entirely different realm, snap his fingers and cause explosions to be implemented on I guess. I would’ve thought his abilities could have been expanded on tenfold, especially with the darkness. His robotic deception could perform plenty of amazing feats, but the real one can’t? This is extremely disappointing

I know this isn’t the answer you were looking for, but, lore and story wise, Leviathan Calus only had those abilities thanks to an entire Leviathan’s worth of elite Psion councilors supporting him. Next to none of that was Calus’ own actual self-contained power.

@@Unsaelig Ah, really? I was unaware of such a thing. That does actually make sense now lore wise, somewhat of a Wizard of Oz type deal in regards to power. I still think it would’ve been amazing if he had been actually granted those powers by the darkness itself, which would be far more fitting for his grand and royal sense of presence.

So most of my deaths in the final part were due to having too much momentum that I missed the balcony. Also got lucky with my steand doing constant damage to calus when he yeeted me off the map.

There has to be a way to cheese this. 99% of all players could gaf about the campaign, we just want to unlock the stupid subclass, and we're stuck behind this impossible boss fight. Needs to be literally 3 optional missions.

There is, survive until the big shield goes up, stay outside of it and climb your way up to the top and shoot down. I still find it hard on normal because my gear sucks since I haven’t played since before Beyond Light.

I’ve died over 100 times in the fight. It’s ridiculous. It should be hard but not inpossible. Make only one tormentor spawn and maybe we’re in business.

You don't even need to use strand here also for tormentors they can be frozen by stasis and also blinded by a gl making them easy mode

Not gonna lie I am using outbreak perfected here and it's work like a charm with strand I am only using strand as get out of jail free card. Barely just got to the second phase and I hate the fact that you barely have time to turn and shoot him before he is chopping you in half

Are the tormentors weak to void or something? I've been using solar for the surge with Gally, Xeno, and they're immune until I "break" them and they start rushing.

I'm pretty sure eso is using a fragment that makes his nade weaken them also pro tip. If u have a blinding gl the tormentors are easy mode since they can be blinded and won't attack you at all

Okay I may have only done it on normal but I beat Calus with BOTH the tormentors still there for second phase. Just jump around and use your grapple melee. Big damage

Assassins cowl dodging makes you invis fragment LMG or Taipan shoot tormentors crit spots and you can also use finishers when tormentors health is low

@@luucamNY or you could use the gyalkfalcon build and also use the fragments to make void breach and also get devour by picking up void breach and also get free over shields with repulser brace. Also for tormentors just get a blinding gl they actually work on them and won't do a thing when you blind them

I just tractor cannoned the tormentors which blinded them and shotgunned them down then switched to witherhoard for calus damage lol cheesy as you like but it worked

The fact that this boss can 1 hit kill you on normal mode via slam and knocking you off the map is not a skill issue it's just bad game design. Bungie clearly intended for this bosses melee attack to take more then one hit to kill (with the exception of three fireteam members legendary). Bungie can fix this one of two ways; 1.Reduce the bounce back from Calus second phase 2. Add a wall to the arenea And before people rush in and say "git gud" does bungie really expect even 25% of the lightfall player base to do a no hit run.

Aw man, I see my strat wasn't that far off yours. I also used Osteo Striga as main and used Dimensional Hypotrochoid as heavy but didnt used my enery weapon, an Pyllotactic Spiral. After 30 some what times getting yeeted of the map and at 31 finnaly reaching phase 2, I quit and found a fireteam to help me out

(Hunter/legendary cam)Hahaha honestly this boss was hard but I realized I didn’t even have a exotic on to help so I decide to skip strand use void subclass and put on some frostees and just use wither on calus and smg him also with auto cascade grenade lancher and from after the first platform and then you run to every bridge and go invis every time to run around to each one on and I ignored practically every other mob and simply focused calus and kept going invis and same for 2nd phase (tip don’t stop running and going invis) finisher invis helps too tremendously and it made it so easy, so gl guys

I'm surprised I managed to get through this fight 2nd try I just used witherhoard and kept running around the area to get away from tormentors, I only killed the first and then didn't break the second ones pauldrons so he doesn't get very aggressive
