NOTE: Do NOT use a regular dimmer switch for a fan. Only use a Fan Control Switch for the fan(same price as a dimmer). Your fan's motor can catch fire if you use a regular dimmer switch

Does this work the same for both a light and a fan on one switch? And is it the same from brand to brand (old switch is Harbor Breeze new switch is Hampton Bay-bought the wrong brand).

will the dimmer only affect the light or also de fan?

My question isn't answered in this video: How do know if you should replace a dimmer switch? How do you know that a problem is because of a faulty switch rather than a wiring problem or an issue with a dimmable light fixture? What is the diagnostic step that tells me it's the switch and not one of the other possibilities?

If the fan and the light are wired to the same hot wire, and you need to dim the light, use a remote control with light dimmer in it, or electrical signal wall control which can dim the light separately.

Installed my fan that comes with a remote. But when I try to dim the lights down. The ceiling fan turns off. It's a new hampton bay model with a receiver for remote. My old ceiling fan was able to still run with the light dimmed. Or off. But I dont know if I have to rewire the wall switch. Any advice?

@@CeilingFanVideosOnYT Yes. So it has a switch on the bottom of it right under the dimmer. For off and on. And the adjuster for dimmer. I wish I can send you pictures to show you.

@@CeilingFanVideosOnYT I have the light off right now. From using the remote. But when I try to go dim the light, the fan turns off. And i have another wire that i can connect to for the ceiling fan. But i wont be able to dim the lights. With the other switch.
