I wanted to touch on each image in a little more detail as to how the colors might be interpreted... but decided it might diminish the message of "feeling" and "emotion".
How did each image feel to you, through color? The intent of an image doesn't always have to be made clear and the image itself can do the talking - leaving the viewer to simply feel how they feel about the image - and interpret it based on that feeling.
Also, the Forza 60C is a fantastic light, and is definitely where colored lighting fixtures are headed in the near future!

I just got back from a music video shoot at an abandoned, falling-down mansion with no power. I brought in a generator, a couple 500W fresnals, Godox LC500 saber, Godox 150W LED and was ready for all the planned setups. You were in my head telling me where to put the lights the whole time. Love your channel. Thank you.

Just a question Nate, I hear that you should run lights strictly off of a pure sine wave generator, is the correct? Did you run your lights off of just a normal generator? Cheers mate.

I so love your use of color and light in your work, it goes so far beyond most things I see on KZfaq. I feel like you take advantage of these amazing cameras we have these days and use their potential to give us beautiful images with contrast and color instead of a flat image with different shades of grey. You've got a lot of talent.

Thank you so much Tyler, that means a lot - I really do appreciate it and I'm happy you're enjoying my work so much! We certainly have some amazing technology to work with these days, cameras and lighting! It's easier than ever to experiment and shoot and create things that were much trickier to do even just 10 years ago. Thank you so so much!! 😊

i love your content man, there are many good lighting/cinematography youtube channels out there, but many times i feel like your videos dive in deeper and really teach you "how to fish", instead of just giving you a fish (: keep it up, thanks!

Thank you so much Yuval, I really appreciate it! I'm just making what I want to see, if that makes sense - there are so many fantastic channels teaching similar things, but I actually struggle learning from others myself sometimes! So with these videos, I've learned about how to light an image in this way, with these tools or techniques, and my hope is to be able to share that information whilst having it open ended enough to apply it in many different ways, not just in the way the image is shown. So if that's coming through, I'm happy!! :)

They are wonderful! You can definitely get a lot of tones and subtleties you can't usually get with a RGBW/RGBWW fixture - it's random and not a colour I would even use often, but I was so happy about being able to light with bright, saturated yellow haha! Thanks so much Bob!

@RobEllisCinematographer Жыл бұрын
Thanks Carol, happy to hear you're getting something out of my videos! And I'm just good at staring into the distance I promise haha! The last few times I bought it from Lencarta in the UK, as you can get bigger 2m x 3m bleached muslin backdrops - so you've got more than enough material, can cut it down etc. Not sure where you're located but if you do a quick search for bleached muslin backdrop you'll definitely get some results. It's always good to have more to work with when you need it! 🎉

Hi Rob, did you use a promist for these shots? Also, I’m a little stuck for choice and would love to get some advice from you. I don’t know whether to get the bmpcc6k pro or Sony A7sIII. I have a Sony a7iii right now and all the rigs, lenses etc to go with it. So it would make sense to upgrade to the a7siii. But I’ve heard a lot of people saying there’s a certain ‘cinematic’ quality to skin tones etc with the bmpcc6k pro that you wouldn’t get with the likes of an a7siii. And from what I’ve gathered from KZfaq, all bmpcc6kpro footage does looks better. But the a7siii is insane in low light situations, I’m not sure about the bmpcc. Do you reckon I should sell my a7iii and upgrade to the a7siii? Or should I sell ALL my equipment and invest it all into a bmpcc6k pro set up including lenses, rig etc. would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
@RobEllisCinematographer
@RobEllisCinematographer Жыл бұрын
Hi Jamie! No promist - a few of the shots used Dehancer's bloom effect, which is so good I never bother with any diffusion filtration haha! That is a question only you can answer, as only you know what you want out of a camera system! Skin tones can differ between different camera systems' flavour of rec709, but you can always colour transform into your preferred colour space if you're shooting log - so if you wanted to try Blackmagic's skin tones on a Sony camera, just pull up a colour space transform node and output it to Blackmagic's Gen 5! (If you're using Davinci Resolve). If you shoot a lot of naturally low light then the Sony would be the better choice for sure. Different sensors absolutely have subtle differences in the way they look but you should also go for the camera that has the most functionality for you and what you intend to shoot with it :) I hope this helps somewhat!!

Forza 60C The only disadvantage: Too expensive
@RobEllisCinematographer
@RobEllisCinematographer Жыл бұрын
It's $2000-3000 cheaper than the other lights that currently have this colour technology, so if you look at it that way, it's not so bad! ;) But everyone has their own budgets and costs and I'm pretty sure this will be the standard in the near future, so prices will come down!
