How to make a composite image from separate captured images and combine them into a finished picture.
In this video I take you step by step through the process of making a creative still life photographic study.
I will demonstrate how to combine separate images in photoshop to build up a final image.
Everything is covered from the studio lighting using studio flash, through the tethered capture in Capture one software, to the final image in Adobe Photoshop.
I'll use a Canon DSLR, tethered into Capture one software to show you how to capture your subject from basic image to completed photograph.
Ideas for art photography.
Canon 12mm extension tube.
Canon 85mm f1.2 Lens.

This is a great video. I followed your directions and was able to capture a really nice image of a fallen leaf. I would never have thought of 'Dark Field' technique without your video but found it quite easy after a few tries. Thank you and all the best for 2024.

Yes, you could do this with continuous light, but remember flash is very efficient. Therefore you will need a lot of continuous light. Thanks for watching.

Great ideas! All of your videos are great! Quick question, "how did you know what size to make the mask opening? You even have it the right distance up from the table. So cool!

The mask opening is made to match the aspect ratio of the camera sensor. An easy way to get the size right is to place the card about 200mm in front of the lens then looking through the view finder mark the edge of the frame on the card.

Hi Sir. I was planning to try and replicate that image. I don't have an 85mm 1.2. I presume 85mm + 12mm = 97mm. Is a 100mm or 105mm lens going to give you the same working/focusing distance.

I noticed that in all your videos, you are using soft boxes. What if someone doesn't have or can't afford these large soft boxes?

In some cases a better result can be achieved with a sheet of diffusion material and this can be just a simple white plastic bag. As in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bbRhmquUtbLchZc.html
