As the draft is the reverse of a normal woodstove why not just load in the log the add the kindling on top of the fuel then light it. Once you start the blower it's going to pull the fire gas and smoke down then you only have to open the door once improving the efficiency? I know it's counter to how you normally start a fire but if there aren't any coals and it's a cold start try it and see how it works. Thank you

James Shanks thanks for your comment. It is very critical that the fire burns from the bottom. Starting the fire below the door before loading is necessary to prevent burning from the top of the pile. Starting as you suggest is actually a fairly common mistake for new users, hence the importance of this video.

Is this just a display unit that heats the shop?

It is a display unit, and the heat it produces enters the system to heat the shop, but that one doesn't handle the 30,000 sq ft of space. ;-)

Michael Purnell wow 30,000 ft.² that is a lot of space! yeah 30,000 ft.² would need a lot of bTUs to heat!

The Wood Gun can be incorporated into steam heating systems with the special options package for steam. There is neither EPA or UL approvals for these, so most residential applications can't use a Wood Gun set up for low pressure steam.
