Lebron didn’t win until 2012. He last won in 2020. That’s two decades he would need to play all the way until at least 2030 and win again to match what Duncan did. Lebron has been in the NBA a long time already but I believe by then he will be retired.

Timmy's game had no holes. Psychology major as well. He was the smartest player in the league his entire career. Timmy gave you 20/10/5/5/3 per game, anchored the key, made passes out of the double team.

I hate that "He had a lot of help" argument. Duncan's first championsship, his second year in the League mind you, he carried the Spurs on his back. He was surrounded by good role players, but he didn't have Tony Parker nor Ginobli at the time. And Robinson, who people kept bringing up when talking about Duncan's first championship, wasn't the player he was when Tim got into the league. He was at the end of his career and was already suffering from the consequences of his past injury. So no, Duncan didn't have a "lot of help". He was just great at what he does.

Duncans stats on paper dont blow you out of the water, but you have to consider his defense was what anchored that dynasty. Offense, defense, high IQ, leader, consistent. Tim played in a system that emphasized team over individual stats. These guys would make that pass to another player that had a better shot. And Tim was the chief supporter of that system because he was all about winning over stats. Tim had no ego, pride yes, but not ego. All he cared about was winning. No one ever accused Tim of being selfish with the ball or be a ball hog.

I like how non-delusional Chuck is about his playing career. He recognizes that in his prime in Pheonix, the offense basically ran through him, he dominated the ball and thus had many more scoring opportunities and he was never the defensive force Tim was throughout his entire career. All--defensive team selections for 15 seasons is friggin INSANE.

Duncan had some great teammates, absolutely, but so did Magic, Bird, MJ, Kobe, LeBron, Steph. Duncan never had another MVP caliber player on his team. And Pop wasn't nearly the same coach in the late 90s and early 2000s than he was 10 years later. Duncan allowed Pop to become Pop and he enabled his teammates to become better. Oh come on, what is it with always trying to diminish Tim’s accomplishments by talking about his help. Name one player who won a championship without a lot of help. Yes, Tim had a lot of help AFTER 2003. In 2003 he had David Robinson, a great player, but by this time he was seriously suffering from acute back problems. Tony and Manu were far from the stars they were to become later. Both already showed flashes of what they were capable of becoming, but they were not there yet. Tony was a second year teenagerManu was an undisciplined rookie. In addition, Tim had a bunch of veterans who could still play and contribute, but not to their previous level. That year Tim shouldered most of the load. And stop and think about it. Did Tim win because he played with Manu and Tony. or did Manu and Tony become great players because they played with Tim Duncan?
