Kiryu crying at the picture of Mame isnt just that he’s crying because of the dog. Mame is the dog he raised alongside the kids in morning glory. The dog is a metaphor for his life outside of the Yakuza. That calm and peaceful life. Kiryu yearning to just be with his children. Ultimately breaking him down obviously when he sees something that reminds him of that simple life.

@@kirbonoirSimple, Ichi is a former Tojo-kai member and somewhat a kyodai that 'resemble' that of Nishiki, Akiyama isn't, he is, at best, treated like Shinada but with more prominence. Also I feel like Kiryu still salty with the whole confrontation against him in Yakuza 6 lol

I have a simple reason, Kiryu sees him as a brother not as a friend, because of how much Akiyama did for him and how Akiyama protected Haruka while Kiryu couldn't. Akiyama ascended friendship and is more like a brother and a rich uncle for Haruka 🤷

For people pointing out at Kiryu crying for Mame, it is a metaphor for Kiryu's civilian life and how much he loved it. Every time Tojo clan was in trouble he was dragged into the conflict and at Daidoji he was forced to live as a ghost. So it is understandable how much kiryu yearns for his civilian life and his family in Okinawa by seeing at Mame.

Kiryu had a lot of friends he made in his life who passed away for some reason or another and have broken him from the inside from time to time. The only dead friend in the cinematic is Nishikiyama, and that too because he was practically his brother since they were kids. Other than that, it was better for Kiryu to cherish the friends who are alive, given his perspective of having only some time left.

think about the timing of it, it might not be that Mame just reminds him of the civilian life, Mame might have passed away from old age while Kiryu was in the part of his life where he couldn't get in contact with his family, when he couldn't be there for the dog he loved in his final days.

The first version of Baka Mitai ever made was for Yakuza 5. In said game, he's sad and drinking at the bar looking at a picture of his dog, Mame. This is a continuation of that. Despite everything and everyone he misses as well, he still misses his dog dearly.

Mumbo jumbo incoming. least according to Dr Orion a psychologist , due to the stress diathesis model... Humans can deal with very very intense emotional situations life threatening even. However. The intensity doesn't matter. It's the quantity. Even going for the shallow argument.....Kiryu is still more than justified. The man has gone through way too much , shit that even veteran soldiers would break down....all of that tragedy repressed inside. . Humans psychologically can handle a lot but five tiny dominos overloading the psyche is just as emotionally damaging as 5 bigger dominos

Minor story spoilers My only issue with the cinematic is that the final picture should have been either the complete full party or Kiryu's gang from chapter 8 and onwards. Seeing Adachi in that picture when Kiryu spent like no time with him whatsoever is quite odd.

Also kinda funny that you can tell having Joon-Gi be a party member was a very late addition since he isn’t even in the picture, but Nanba is even though he was only in Hawaii for one chapter (maybe he was gonna stay originally before Joon-Gi was added?)

@@SteelBallRun1890 Eh who knows, the writers for the main story and the people who work on the karaoke stuff are completely different teams so it’s probably just an inconsistency. Joon-Gi and Zhao are 100% late additions tho, they don’t really have anything going on story-wise and feel more like extras to give you more options for both parties

@@wakeykun different writers they may be, they're still a whole team, and teams share stuff during production, it may just be because at the time the karaoke song was being made they were still in early to mid stages so they just gave them who would be in Hawaii before Joon was added. While it is also noticeable that they're late additions, its not like they completely got nothing to do, they were still given karaoke songs, drink links, walk and talk interactions and some main story participation, so its not like they're completely sandbagged.

@@Hentiboy69 I'll give them some slack for Akiyama's absence, his VA was probably too busy voicing Donald Duck in Kingdom Hearts 3 and (the upcoming) 4 to be a big part of the recent games. Like Nick Ogata's role in 7 really feels like it was originally meant for Akiyama, but they had to change it cuz his VA was too busy.

well, the song is mainly about his friends and if you know the lyrics its really about him calling the people in the song an idiot for loving him and sticking by him despite everything so Haruka wouldn't really fit here and if you think about it, the unconditional love and loyalty the song is talking about comes in spades from dogs more than anything so the dog from the orphanage fits the best for what the song is trying to convey.@@Sheogoratful
