@@SWiFence thank you for that advice! Ultimately, after doing that, I still felt like I could make it look even better, so I went to Home Depot and got the regular silver duct tape and did several wraps around each place where a black zip-tie was, and now you hardly know they're there 👍👍. It blends right in with the metal color. It looks so much better, I'm thinking of wrapping each overlapping link with the duct tape so it looks more uniform. Great video, thanks! If you decide to edit your video to include the duct tape idea, you can just throw me a shout-out

You make that look so easy...and quick! I need to repair some of my chain link fence to keep the code enforcement dude off my butt (and to keep my little dogs in the yard when they need to go out). I have extra fence and am just dumb enough to attempt this on my own, but I have a feeling I'll just end up with 1000 mosquito bites and an even larger gaping hole in my fence. Can you be a dear and just swing by my house in Texas for a few minutes and fix it for me? 😁😁😜🤣

Hello, I’d like to ask for your advice. I have a fence with 19 terminal posts in a straight line. The terminal posts are 2-3/8” inches and 6ft tall above the ground. They are embedded 24 inches down in concrete. Approximately 15 of these posts are not plumb. They are slightly not level. Approximately 5 degrees off. I have a top rail going. I have also a top rail bar that is tension banded between all of these posts. My worry is that over time the terminal posts will continue to tilt. Should I correct them now or is it not worth the effort? What kind of lifespan can I expect if they are going to continue to tilt? Thank you in advanced.

I always find the terminology differences fascinating. Straw = needle, chain walker = chain grab, chain link rake = fingers. All same same but different. Been thinking of leaving California. You guys hiring? Once again as I’ve said before, been building fence the whole work week and still find myself watching it on KZfaq on the weekend. Good job fellas! Keep it up.

@@SWiFence I was talking about the double braided wire you stretch at the bottom to keep the the fabric from getting stretched out at the bottom, but I just watched one of your videos where you showed your practice of doing that, but thanks for the reply. I really didn't know what to call it, and a neighbor has a dog that keeps getting out under it because no one ever put that wire at the bottom between the terminal posts. I guess I named them correctly; you put those 10' apart with a line post between them, and the wire that stretches between them. but I saw the hardware you use to connect them and then stretch the wire to put the tension on it and the lock the fabric to the wire with the links you use. I always see people wrapping that wire around the posts and stretching it by whatever means. I never see them use the double braded wire though; that makes more sense to add strength to the bottom of the fence. really enjoying the how to videos on chain link. I think I'm leaning more towards a cedar privacy fence, but I like the knowledge you are sharing on posts and chain link fence.

Dan, who was the perp who cut a square hole in your fence? I mean, I’ve seen a lot of break-ins in the movies… and a fair amount of break outs in prison movies… I don’t recollect ever seeing a diagonally positioned square hole. I’d suggest you go to the local artist commune to find the perp! (No charge for this tip… it’s just one of the many free services I provide to those trying to have a good danged day!) And about those straws… are they alternatives to the much debated ‘paper or plastic’ options?

It was ungodly how hard it was to twist the needle through, especially near the end, We used a pulljack and a comealong method, Ended up destroying the needle by the end of the day doing exactly what you mentioned about twisting from the top, Any tips on how to do this better\easier?

A twist through is hard work--not going to argue with you there. You could maybe cut the strand in half, and twist each half in separately (leave an overlap)? Sorry--I don't have any great hacks for this.

Looks like you have the pole with the tension bar about 2 feet away. Couldn't you have just disconnected at the post, completed your repair weave with no tension on it, and then re-tensioned the fabric to the pole using the tension bar as an easier method?
