"Wanna Be a Baller" is a 1998 hit single from Lil' Troy's debut album Sittin' Fat Down South, which went to number 70 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. It was produced by Bruces Rhodes and featuring Big T, Yungstar, Fat Pat, H.A.W.K. and Lil' Will. The lyrics "Wanna Be a Baller, Shot Caller" were initially used in Puff Daddy's 1997 single "It's All About the Benjamins". Rapper Slim Thug did a freestyle over the beat on his mixtape I Represent This. The beat is a sample of Little Red Corvette by Prince. Zach Turcotte once referred to "Wanna Be a Baller" as "a legendary track. I mean, it's probably one of the greatest rap songs around these days."
The chorus was written by southern rapper E.S.G., who was never credited, he frequently states this fact in his songs
