Thank you for sharing a pattern that helps running out in 9 ball. I am gonna try it out when I practice only though. I personally think that in any match, players should rack the balls randomly, without a pattern.
@LilChrisPoolPlayer

With this breaking technique, any pattern is runnable because the spreads would be similar. The only real difference are the transitions used for different patterns. This pattern, IMO, is just the easiest.

@@LilChrisPoolPlayer Your breaks are very clean and the spreads are consistent. I am still learning to execute a good break, I usually get many collisions and poor control of the cue ball. You pattern is definitely the easiest.

At 10:47 : I was thinking that you could actually add slight bottom (which would die/lag and become slight top left by the time it reached the 5) with approximately 2 tips of inside (left) to hit 3 rails (weaving through the 7, 8, 9 and 6 gap) and and end up running the line of the 6 (allowing more room for error on cue ball weight*)to the bottom right (on screen) pocket.

Love your content and I was using a different pattern rack I may start to implement this when I play tournaments that are rack your own! I do have to ask since you have switched to a carbon fiber playing cue why have you not switched to a carbon fiber break cue and jump cue?
@LilChrisPoolPlayer
@LilChrisPoolPlayer 2 жыл бұрын
I'd advise against using this rack pattern in a rack your own format. I know it wouldn't be against the rules, but you really shouldn't use an advantage that your opponent may not be aware of, unless you're willing to inform your opponent of the ease this rack pattern can give. Ideally, any rack pattern with this same spread would be relatively easy to run out. I have a carbon fiber break cue (BK Rush). It's paired with my Predator Blak4-5 playing cue. What you see in my videos are my Predator Tuxedo and BK3 that I use for my KZfaq videos.

A "harder" pattern to run would basically be something that requires a lot of cue ball movement for each transition, basically going from one end of the table to the other. I demonstrated something like this in my last 9-ball breaking video that I reference in this video ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e7ygetal39ebaJc.html ).

Is it legal to set up the rack as you have described during tournament play? Do the pros actually do this?
@LilChrisPoolPlayer

There's nothing in the rules that prohibits a particular pattern. Some tournaments do have rule against using the same pattern over and over again. I don't expect pros to do this as they typically have a neutral racker.

@LilChrisPoolPlayer

I'm not a fan of "Corey Deuel" style soft breaking, which this pattern would not be ideal for because you would have to run to the 5 or 6 (depending on what side you break from) before possible having a combo on the 9-ball. Having the 2 and 3-ball behind the 1-ball is the ideal setup to do that kind of soft breaking.

Repeatedly pattern racking is not legal in most tournaments. I believe there are 5040 different types of rack patterns you can make with a 9-ball rack, leaving the 1-ball as the head ball and the 9-ball in the middle. Of those patterns, where do you find in the rules which ones are supposed to be "legal" and which ones are not? Don't get me wrong, I agree with you. It's just that there is no rule that would prevent the use of this pattern every once in a while.
