Here we have the Sunday of the Glastonbury Tour of 2019 organised by Aaron.
First up, we have Wells Cathedral; the heaviest 10 in the world which are a rather characterful and challenging ring of bells. Standing on one side of the room, one can really feel the tower swaying around! Rounds and call changes was the prime ringing that took place and we joined the locals in ringing the Sunday morning service in. The sound recording is of Grandsire Caters, which was respectively rung.
We then ventured back into Shepton Mallet for our second bit of service ringing where we decided push the boat out to ring Bristol, Superlative, Bristol, which went relatively well funnily enough and a good effort from Euan for calling it. A nice touch of Grandsire also featured to top things off.
Had a play around in Premiere Pro with the poppies and sally colours at the end of the clip, not quite perfect but had a go at some funky editing anyhow.
Our next stop was Ashwick, a little country 6 more or less in the middle of nowhere - the church looked beautifully kept on the inside and was a rather pleasant environment. On the inside the bells are nice and handle well, immediately outside they are very shrill and some might say quite harsh at face value. As a country six they are alright though.
The obligatory lunch Spoons followed, very nearly preceded by a detour on the West Somerset Railway ;-D - this time with a rather flagging band. Nevertheless we managed to pull off a rather decent half course of Cambridge on the boomy and heavy 6 at Doulting, which go well but need a steady rhythm to keep them under control. They are lovely and loud on the outside with plenty of bold character!
After this it was time to make tracks back to Kent and Sussex tracks after an intense weekend. Whilst half of the group headed back to Sussex, a handful of us ventured into Bristol for the evening practice at Redcliffe. Shown is a rather obscure panorama of the nave vaulting of this beautiful building as well as other landmarks in its nearby vicinity, accompanied with some Yorkshire Royal on the back 10 (tenor hum alert).
