Great playing! I learned these from Luther Davis at his home outside Galax, VA 45 years ago, and I love to see his tunes being played and spread around!

what tuning are you using on the gourd Steve...what perfect gourd tunes...to my ear.
@steveallerton912410 ай бұрын
Thanks. Tuning here is eAEAB. On a conventional banjo, the tuning is Double-D (aDADE).

tks..I tried that on my short scale stewart with aquila reds...doesn't work so well. I love the sound you get from the gourd...Ive been trying to find one...on a wait list with Romero banjos for now. @@steveallerton9124

Hey Steve, I love your playing. Should I start out on a fretless gourd banjo? I have some music experience (3 years training on bass), can play the guitar a little. What would recommend to get started?
@steveallerton9124Ай бұрын
Would probably be more practical to start on a standard banjo, since most initial instruction is targeted as such. Fretless makes hitting proper intonation more challenging. And a fretted banjo would lend itself to instilling proper muscle memory. But I’m aware of a few people that went fretless pretty early in the game. 🙂
