Ok so my mom is a beautician she works at Cloud-9 if anyone who sees this is in the Pittsburgh PA area, I’ve learned a couple things about cutting hair just by observing her cut hair when she worked at Emerald and Studio 657. The first thing you do is wet the person’s hair, also don’t cut hair on carpet because it’s a pain in the ass to clean out of carpet and rugs even if you have a vacuum but that’s neither here nor there… then you go about the hair cutting shenanigans. A good trick to use when using scissors is to use your pointer and middle fingers to pinch the hair below where you’re going to cut, this helps the cut to stay even and also is a good way to keep from over cutting. Just be careful of your scissors because my mom has also cut the skin off her knuckles a couple times when she wasn’t paying attention to how close her scissors were to her fingers. Also something you don’t want to hear from your barber “I have shaky hands”
