Hi Bill. The good old Lima 52. I had four of these in all the different colours. Luckily ( for me ) I was able to upgrade mine with the Dapol one's. Still the Lima one's are good for anyone on a budget. They are of their time so the detailing is limited, but you,ve done a good job with this one. It sounds so quiet and running with those blue/grey coaches it looks lovely. Well done.

These Lima 52's are great locos,I have five of them, all still with their original ringfield"pancake" motors, all have extra brass wire pick-ups fitted on both motor and trailing bogies, all have had their gears cleaned up and de-flashed.They are great runners. I also have a couple of Lima 42's(Warships)a Hornby Hymek and Class 33 that have all had the same work done on them.

I've got one of these. Mine had a broken chassis (in 4 pieces) so that had to be pieced back together. Unfortunately the plastic is a type that doesn't like superglue very much so I had to use polystyrene cement. It runs really well now.

These could be detailed up, nicely with etched names and numbers. Someone should make 3D printed engine room detail sets that you could (not you in person.. lol) fit in them. Just a thought! Nice service/repair!

Despite these old Limas being very straightforward to work on, I have managed one or two daft errors but never got the motor the wrong way round! Agree great value and very solid. The big improvement is adding the extra pick-up of which I have several to do…

Excellent video yet again Bill. I always thought the Lima models were a lot more sturdy and reliable compared to the hornby at the time. If I see you at any of the shows I'll pop over and say hello

More detailed too.

My favourite loco by far. I still have the original blue Lima model up in the attic, complete with etched nameplates, removed lamp and repanted yellow ends.

Hi Bill. Another great job. Wish I had the confidence like yourself to repair my own locos. Take them to My go to man, Dan, Dans model railways. Thank you Bill. Thumbs up thumped 👍 .... Pete....

Always informative and enjoyable to watch, thanks. Just a suggestion, to help with filing the gear wheels, have you considered using sanding sticks? The thin ones can be handy for sanding down the inside of the gear wheels.

Another one of the takeaways I have from watching your videos is not to over lubricate. A little oil on the motor bearings does go a long way. It's a attractive model and I agree with you about Lima ringfield motors in general, very reliable. Having said that, CD motor conversions are definitely in store for my class 33 and small prairie tank loco. 😊

It is always interesting to see the simple answers to headaches. I have a few of the Lima diesels and find them reliable if noisy. Thanks for another excellent video Bill.

I've made a similar mistake when re-fitting wheels. It can be baffling. Once again, the endoscope proves its worth to show what impact the sandpaper has. Watching your running sessions has given me the need to run my rake of BR Mk 2s the next time I play trains. Theres a few new camera locations too. Great stuff!

I quite agree with you about Lima diesels - great locos and still good value. I just picked up a blue deltic for £15 and it's a great runner
