Beaches in Lima, Peru, may not be awe-inspiring, although the city still has some gems if you know where to look. With more than 2,000km of Pacific coastline, you can venture a little outside Lima to stumble across the best beaches in Peru.
Peru’s beaches cater to sunbathers, swimmers, surfers, and fishermen. From fine golden sand to pebble beaches. From populated hotspots to natural reserves. If you’re set on adding beach time to the itinerary, Peru’s got you covered.
Beaches in Miraflores and Barranco are the most concentrated in Lima as they’re close to where you'll be staying, and there are many restaurants, bars, shops, and other attractions nearby. Only 40 minutes away, you’ll find more options in the Sur Chico area and Punta Hermosa. But some of the best beaches in Peru are in the north, between Tumbes and Piura.
In this video, we’ll cover the different types of Lima beaches and where they are located. If you're heading to Peru for the first time, we recommend making time for a trip out of the city, where it's possible to find even more solitude away from crowds.
