Great video and very helpful. A lot of the limbing videos on KZfaq are on conifers and don't have the tension issues that these larger hardwoods do. I'm clearing storm damage and appreciate the clear information.

Thank you for the vid. Very easy info for first time tree delimbers. I’m learning how to do the whole tree take down and all steps in between to get in my fireplace. KZfaq is a great resource, but a lotta frogs before I find vids like yours that are simple and to the point for my girl brain to process.

I cut my own firewood. When I drop a tree I start at the top, cut the small stuff off and get it out of the way, then work my way down the tree, cutting small to bigger everything that does not have any pressure on it, when that is taken care of and moved out of the way, only then do I start on the limbs that are supporting what is left, one 16" slice at a time until there is no pressure on it then get it cut and removed, until the trunk is sitting on the ground, then it gets sliced up and loaded.

Two hands on chainsaw at all times, proceeds to make a timid face notch and back cut, doesn’t set the brake…..holds the saw while grabbing branch (that’s a violation) and drags the branch out the shot….still holding the saw! See people here’s the deal, I support safety…..here’s the thing, when I started building 20yrs ago my name was “hurry up” “wood…. kid” I save the other names cause people might get offended, I wasn’t offended, I respected my mentors as they were my elders #1 and they could build! I wanted to learn, so I endured some tough love! To this day these men are my friends/family, they would explain stuff like this……. “Remember kid, we….meaning me and you, we the people decided that people were driving too fast on this certain road so we decided for the safety of the public we need a speed limit, 25mph this road other country road is 45mph……everyone agreed for the safety of the public and that’s the end of the story right”? “Wrong, see we decided the speed limit that DOESNT mean a police officer can now hide behind a tree and use a device to determine if we are speeding” it’s for the safety of the public they say, no it’s about money! Because it’s not the person going 28mph the speed limit was decided for….no one can physically pay attention to a speed while driving a vehicle safely to this regard, you become even more of a hazard….are you watching the road or the dashboard, up down up down, that’s not what the speed limit was intended for! The people agreed that the person going 70mph is a danger to society, so we should make a law that is of best interest to the general public, so this guy don’t hurt anyone, including himself! There’s a big difference between the two, while this video is about tree removal safety, which I could be the person who goes “he broke the law, ticket him” “one hand on the saw at all times, that’s a violation” or I can be the guy who goes “thanks for the information, as we know site conditions and other natural factors come into play that we have no control over, safety comes with responsibility and a good mentor….you must have a skilled teacher/mentor/instructor/father figure teach you the dos and do nots…..exactly the same fundamentals that developed and built this nation! In terms of constructing/building skilled labor terms! Not consulting, planning, policing terms! There’s people who’s “sweat skilled labor do the task at hand…..and there’s 5 others in the office shralping off the top of the builders wage……usury! Unfortunately some won’t understand this ever! And for those that can and truly understand, thank you!
