It's nice to see another person who enjoys the literary side of the series as much as I do and is also making a video on analyzing the cantos and it's parallels to the books and other PM media! Just ironic we both started around the same time, but still keep up the good work my man :).

Considering first three chapters came out all at once on release, had only one mili song in them, were quite short and didn't include the change of sinners' base E.G.Os(if I remember correctly), I think it's completely safe to say that they are intended to be an introduction upon which the story will be built upon(also having introduced the main bough-targeting groups with connections to certain sinners and one very mysterious boy who speaks in riddles) Compared to Cantos 4-6 they didn't have as much of an emotional impact on me, but there is one scene that engraved itself into my memory. The Sinclair family gatherings. The way all music suddenly disappears and the color pallet completely changes after their augmentations are revealed is fucking great. And the fact that it has Sinclair's pov only helps the immersion. Actually makes you feel the dread and discomfort. I'm not sure if it really is as well executed as I say, or I just find it somewhat relatable(with how my extended family meetings since 2022 were transformed into constant discussion of the war, demonization of Ukrainian people and me trying to keep my mouth shut and leave the table asap), but that's the scene I remember the most vividly.

I think that You Want To Get Beat? Hurtily? is also about gambling. The colorful playful exterior hiding the horrible things that happened to the person underneath.

A quick note. The abnormalities in sinclair's canto do have some thematic depth to them. For one abnormalities come form the collective unconscious. One might call them the purest form of humanity given that it literally everyone's thoughts. So of course the once obsessed with human purity would want to mess around with that shit and undergo intentional ego corrosion. The abnormalities seem to be a lion a snake and either the actual thing or an aberration of nothing there. I can't really make much sense of the the beast one but the snake can be clearly connected to the serpent in adam and eve. The snake that deceived them into eating the apple can be compared to how kromer dragged sinclair into the dark world. And for out good old friend nothing there (am going to assume its nothing there given that the enemies code is the same as nothing there's but with a TE at the end) Its something that attempts to be human but can never be as its called theres nothing there. Which you can compare to the people undergoing full body replacement or having prosthetics they're no longer human yet still pretend to be. And if its an aberration its probably called everything there. Given its supposed name its likely an inverse of nothing there instead of pretending to be human by mimicing voices it would force out everything inside a human be it their true self or whatever. Not so much carmen style but more so body horror style. And thats my take on things i could very well be off about some things please understand am kinda stupid

Funny you mention the possibility of Dante possessing the mark along with Sinclair. Dante might currently be the 10th sinner but if you look at Sinclair's jacket, it designated him as the 10th before getting crossed out to be 11

Regarding the branch of L corp being connected to Sinclair's basement, I'm pretty sure that it used to be supplying power to the district/Calw before sinking to at least near the basement. Since there is an at least half a year gap between the other 2 games and Limbus company, the Sinclair's family definitely could have expanded the basement and found it or noticed its presence after a bit and hired help to dig things out

As an aside about the Vellmori stuff. From the documents that were leaked about the investigation into it, I remember them saying the artist wanted to leave after all the shit that went down. And PM said ok, and agreed to pay her for 2 years of compensation. Im not excusing the situation what happened to her is dumb as hell. But I don't really think PM is super evil as everyone initially thought from their really bad initial statement that was loaded with corporate speak. Also PM said in the later statement that they will combat any Cyberbullying of their employee's. The situation itself was really messy but I don't think PM is evil because of it and time will tell if they hold true on that last promise. But they certainly arn't Activision/Blizzard thats for sure

One important thing on the Animation when you first get N Corp Sinclair: The Mark is made up of 3 pieces, the upside down checkmark and the two lines. During the animation of getting Nclair only the check and *one* line appears, the other one failing to appear.

I don't know the validity of the claim (as i have not read Dantes Inferno or the Divine Comedy myself) but, i remember seeing a thread that mentiones the color of Lucifer's 3 heads. How 1 head was yellow , another red, and thr last one black. The main 3 N Corp group memebers we see in The Outcast all have their eye colors matching a different head. Hermann is yellow, Gubo black, and Jia Huan red. No idea if it has any significance or is just a coincidence but i felt it was worth mentioning.

I think another part of Rodion's canto is that all the abnormalities are all being 'used' by another - Baba Yaga has her minions, Hurtily is a bodyguard for a system that produces more of him, Rose Shoes are a possessive type Abnormality, and of course, the Shoes tying up Hurtily themselves, moving them from one master to other. All of this reflects in Rodion's feeling of being duped by Sonya and pulled along by other powers her entire life. (good video btw)

Great video! Didn’t realize the cantos kinda paralleled inferno in the ways it did, I thought it was just the predator trio at the start and a naming scheme for references. Also adding onto the part about Sonya and Rodyas interactions and the meanings therein, I think their dynamic in the flashbacks and how they approached problems and look at the world actually speaks problems and contradictions between genuine socialists/discussed at length in socialist theory. That being the balance and divide between theoretical and practical work, and dialetically bringing both forms of praxis together to synthesize a more correct, moral, and productive line. And I think the conflict and story they have also reflects the emotional and practical struggles of genuine revolutionaries and marxists. In the case of Rodya and Sonya occupy two extremes it seems. Rodya in her flashbacks mentions growing bored and frustrated with the constant debate and theoretical work, citing the abject poverty and horror going on every day, and she’s right to do so. But Sonya is also correct to temper her and tell her to not act with haste, but informedly so and with a plan. Then she goes off and plays the hero (great man theory style) like she alone can save the poor and working class, only to bring about the complete destruction of the town she fought for. It’s righteous anger and violence but not directed where it needs to be, or not in the right way or at the right time. But Sonya also shows signs of idealism in a bad way, insofar as he may be focusing too hard on finding the perfect path forward just by discussing and debating theory, but it’s praxis that informs theory which informs future praxis; a positive feedback loop of contradiction and synthesis in a Hegelian sense. If he doesn’t get out there and actually take risks and try to enact their ideas, the Yurodivye won’t be anything more than an armed study group (which is based but also doesn’t bring the revolution on its own let alone alleviate the pain and suffering in the meantime). Sonya shows Rodya the world he dreams of and Rodya I think wants it to, but knows she may never see it or is maybe even a bit pessimistic about their chances after the middle slaughtered that town, despairing rather than having fully learned and overcome her mistake. So yeah, adventurism vs armchair revolutionary themes are something I’m really glad to see seemingly discussed in any media and has me hopeful that despite PJMs wrongheaded and dumbass mistakes on the business side with how they treat some employees, I would hope their message and intent is progressive and even radical in its nature. Let rodya kill more slumlords Jihoon !! (but with better preparation for when the syndicates show up to fight back)

The abnormality in canto 2 share the common theme of no actually engage in the fight directly. You must become strong manufacture Hurtily and other human to fight for it Pink shoes also used one of the Hurtily as it vessle to fight Baba Yaga also did not join in the fight directly but rather let the image of Rodion's trauma stop the group I think that it all revole around the fact that while Rodion have accepted what she done was fucked up, she didn't truly confront anything and just put on a smile and pretend it isn't there

Very good video, really interested in your dissection of the next few cantos, however long that takes to make lol. Another literary reference in Limbus I haven't seen mentioned much is the golden boughs themselves, likely referring to the golden bough Aeneas must find in book 6 to enter the underworld (maybe paralleling with it being the motivating force for the LCB to travel around the city, and literally reigniting each sinner's individual "hell" when they come in contact with the bough?). It could also be referring to the anthropology book of the same name, but I've never read it so I couldn't give a concrete answer on the parallels there.

I agree with most of what you said and think its really interesting but I still have to disagree with the narative that rodian wants to be the hero, because of 2 reasons 1, that sonya is the one saying it i will explain that later, and 2. The fact the rodian doesn't steal the spotlight a whole lot after her canto. As for why i think sonya is untrustworthy in his dipiction of rodya is because they're opposites of each other sonya is words without action and rodya was and maybe still is actions without thought it would make a lot of sense if they just couldn't understand each other and he probably went through the aftermath of what rodya did, so he most likely has a very unfavorable veiw of her. Also rodya just doesn't do a whole lot outside of her canto, even in parts like hell's chicken where she could have stole the spotlight without too much of an issue she just doesn't, as far as a recall the only time she takes center stage outside her canto is in the abno classification cutscene if she was as selfish as sonya said she probably would have at least tried to do it more often i think Also I think it is a lot more likely that Sonya was a person who didn't want to fight for change but was willing to wait while Rodya was someone who was absolutly willing to fight but not willing to wait, which is both why they can't understand eachother and what caused the rift between them in the first place. Also none of that word vomit is edited so it might not be readable, sorry if that is the case

Also as someone else pointed out all of Canto 2 boss fights involve fighting proxies never the real thing. Do you want to be Strong Pink Shoes Yaga Baba Are all Abnormalities that fight through minions. Which is s great metaphor for running away.

I think that the punishment of being blown about by winds in Canto 3 is quite literally the attacks that distorted Kromer does, with all of the Lust abilities she has being related to wings and the act of flying, as well as Demian being shown floating and Sinclair having a lot of bird symbology.

Kromer is not a distortion well not one brought about by carmen. She was birthed entirely of her own passion making her significantly closer to am ego. It's probably related to the boughs ability to grant wishes.
