That makes sense to make the napkin a bit smaller than the printer paper so that the edges don't catch when it goes through the 🖨️ thank you for sharing this idea 👍

You can also do this with tissue paper and you can use rubber stamps on both tissue paper and napkins. I don't know why it never occurred to me to put napkins through my printer because heaven knows, I've put everything else through it 🤭😅. Thanks for the idea! I agree with the comments about using hairspray for fixative and heat setting your ink... I heat set everything pretty much just to be safe. I just use heat press now because it's usually on and it's so quick but before I had that I just used my regular iron and never had a problem. Make sure you just press and lift as opposed to swiping the iron... As you would if you were ironing something. Swiping or moving the iron can smear the ink but if you just set the iron down and lift it straight back up and then set it down in another spot and lift it straight back up you should be okay.

Thanks for the tips. I have tried hairspray but it didn't seem to work. I didn't know about heat setting but that makes a lot of sense. I look forward to giving that a try. There are always so many interesting and fun projects and techniques to test out and so little time. 😊

You can use Hairspray as a sealant too.

You can find an artist's acrylic clear spray with UV protection and give your work a light spray. I'm not sure how it works on tissue paper, but I use it in my paper based artwork to make it waterproof and fade proof.

You need to bake your sheets at 175 for 15min. It sets the ink and it won’t bleed ☺️

Heat setting with an iron works for tissue and copy paper images.

You can edit the printer settings. Try changing the paper to light weight. Try different settings to stop the bleeding too. Hope that helps.

I saw another video and she put hair spray on the inkjet color images before decoupage. For small object like a earring, you can use packaging tape to seal the image

Maybe if you iron set the colors after they are printed off the ink jet you might reduce the bleeding on the red? Good luck!

I also have a ink jet paper. I watch a video and the lady use hair spray on her images that was on issue paper First she had you to lay you printed tissue paper on top of parchment paper and then on to a cookie sheet. Preheat oven to 200 degrees than slide cookie sheet and printable into the oven for 10 minutes. She says this sets the ink in. Once it cools spray it with hair spray make sure you tell tell it a little damp. Let dry and it’s ready to use. I tried it and so far that method works great. I have a brother I just printer

An ink fixative works. Not a sealer. And it has to cure/set for a bit. Works on even red

I use tissue paper, too, and find that temporary spray adhesive (which I have in my craft space from other projects) works better than taping.

I like the spray adhesive idea. I haven't tried tissue paper but I did wonder if it would work.

Hi. I saw a video like this and she said to allow the color print to dry for 30 min. Try that. Then post another video letting us know that it worked. I hope this helps. 🙏

I spray hair spray before I decoupage it seems to help with bleeding

there is a product in the art section of the art stores or maybe u can find it in hobby lobby or Michaels that is a spray to stop bleeding, smudging, etc. I can not remember the name but it is used to stop charcol dust to go all over the paper. I am sorry i can not remember the name.. U can use it before printing and see how that works or after printing ...experiment with it and see what works best.

try heat setting the printed napkins before using the modge podge on them. It works on fabric and I saw another crafter on you tube heat set her printed tissue paper before gluing it down and it didn't bleed when she applied the modge podge! I wish I could tell you her name.....sorry! but I've tried this prior with fabric and bleeding doesn't happen at all.....

You might be able to get rid of the embossing by dampening the napkin and then ironing it dry

You might try misting one side, heat set and flip over, repeat.
