Lincoln Asylum Steampunk Festival

The Lincoln Asylum Steampunk Festival is the largest and longest running Steampunk festival in the world and has been held in Lincoln for the past 10 years. Weird and wonderful costumes flooded the Cathedral Quarter and Bailgate area of Lincoln on Friday, August 25, with the festival running through the Bank Holiday weekend and concluding on Monday, August 28. This video was filmed on the afternoon of Monday , August 28, 2018

Just had this happen this weekend in Newark, met lots of you, very friendly and aesthetically fantastic. Made my bank holiday talking to some of you bright young things.

Just come back from the 10th anniversary of steampunk in Oamaru, a Victorian town in New Zealand...much the same as this ...bonkers...!!

I was there it was fantastic and the dull weather didn't dampen the atmosphere or the event. Steampunk stiff upper lip. Looking forward to next year already. As well as the Christmas steampunk market at Newark.

Had never really thought much about Lincoln apart from the Cathedral living on the other side of the country and all but it looks a beautiful place to visit never mind a festival of punk that be steam

I'd imagine you've probably discovered it yourself by now, but this is a subculture called 'steampunk', which is heavily based off what the victorians thought the future would be like... among many other things! It's a tad difficult to describe, as it's all over the place (in a good way), but I highly recommend it. If you're in the UK, I recommend heading to Lincoln at the end of the month, as the festival in the video is happening then.
