Dorian Singer didn’t vibe with CW at all, Mario constantly dropped balls. Brendan Rice was great but Malakai Lemon, Deuce Robinson, Zach branch and Ja’Kobi lane are leagues above the guys who left. Blake is wrong as usual. Caleb Williams absolutely improvised 95% of the time. USC’s offensive line was god awful. They could have called holding every single pass play. He did not have time to run Riley’s offense. Riley never adapted to the OLine issues and Caleb ran for his life, which oddly enough is when he’s most dangerous. If the offensive line is still that bad they will indeed take a big step back with Moss.

Joe is a Hater or has his head up his @ss, Blake is right on. USC will make a significant step up on defense and the offense will do what Lincoln Riley's teams do. 10 wins is easily attainable.

Wow…I don’t think I’ve ever listened to more of a biased podcaster, or even a radio person (maybe Petros), than this person Joe who I gave a try first time today….Ruffino seems unbiased and given facts, like qbs that win Heismans, or that Moss beat out a 5*….the Joe guy is a clown and he doesn’t know it 😂. Tbh, outside of Ohio State and Oregon nothing in the B1G scares me this season as a USC fan. Im not expecting a playoff berth, but I would not be surprised if they are in contention. Riley ALWAYS fields great offenses. At this point you’d be a fool to doubt the offense is not going to be rangers given Rileys track record. Fielding even an average defense is going to be an enormous improvement.

I know neither of them are USC fans and I appreciate their analysis but I think Blake is a little too bullish on USC and Joe is a little too down on USC.

Jalen Hurts made his biggest improvements during the entire 2018 year. Dan enos was qb coach, watching tua's play, reps in practice and put what he worked on into action in 4th quarters and came thru in the georgia game.

You have to give Lincoln the benefit of the doubt on offense. You would be a fool count them out. If there defense is good they will beat some good teams.

Second I will go on the record and say that I 100% believe Moss will be the second best QB in the Big Ten this year behind Penn State QB, almost every Big Ten team is getting a new QB new system, you have a guy in Moss that’s been in the same system for 3 years behind a as most say a generational talent in Caleb Williams, only factor in SC way is their in a new conference. Michigan depleted roster wise and coaching staff wise, Ohio State is Ohio state. New OC chip kelly, new QB. May struggle because of new scheme. Nebraska HS phenom QB hasn’t played 1 snap in a college game. I can go on by every team, but Penn St has a returning QB in their system, they always find a way to make stars on defense and produce a top 5 defense. But for god sakes we all know Big Ten is not a QBs conference and you got the QB whisperer or Guru whatever you want to call Riley coming in and he’s going to give Big Ten defenses something they’re not use to seeing. And vise versa the Defenses are going to are going to force Riley to throw the ball because Big Ten defenses as a conference are majority a stop the run. And when you force Riley to throw and be creative it gets bad for teams. There isn’t one team in Big Ten this year that can go shootout with Riley and win it’s just not. If SC can have a top 20 defense this year they have a shot at winning the Big Ten…plain and simple

I think USC will be very good this year. I have a feeling they will have to use 2 true freshmen ILB's, but they are both really really good.

Blake is also correct things with Caleb. It felt like this offense went all Caleb and didn't do basics such as run the ball even though they had an incredible running back in Lloyd. They tried to get Caleb a 2nd Heisman instead of win games.

As an OU fan. We never thought Jalen Hurts was going to run the triple option or any of that. We knew he would throw it around and run some. We like Jalen as a person and appreciate his time at OU. But fans didn't think highly of him as a player.. All the QBs that LR has ever touched were developed by someone else and they came in. Guys he recruited almost never played or got benched. If you look at QB lifecycles, high school to NFL, Caleb is the only player LR can claim. Caleb you could argue got worse over the years with LR. LR does not develop QBs.

And: Ruffino was also factual re OU, in the '17 bowl game, embarrassing & shredding UGA's so-called pass d'.

B1G pass defenses will have to adjust to facing skill guys fielded by programs like Oregon, USC & Ucla (not just tOSU or Brohm-led Purdue, to give 2 examples). Of course: the non-Pac B1G teams will have a massive LOS advantage in '24 bigTen regular season play, but it will be interesting to track USC-Ucla in '25 & '26 bigTen conference games...

Im against Blake on Moss and have been the whole time. I remember people praising the hell out of that kid for that bowl game, so i was intrigued. When i watched it, i saw a guy throw up ducks that his WRs bailed him out on time and time again. They are going to lose because they don't have CW improvising for them, and that schedule.

A combination of cold weather, Rileys lack of defensive culture , a young qb, a tougher conference that plays a different style than the west coast. Riley may not even make it through the entire season before he quits or gets fired. He folds up like a cheap lawn chair when the pressure gets to high

Who cares how good the defense is if the offense can't score, point in case, Iowa. Iowa faced bad offenses that allowed them to be in games. Who is this guy Joe? Does he do his homework? Louisville was ranked #15 in the country in defense and Miller ripped them to shreds with Jacobs Lane(remember that name ). Makai and Zach didn’t have a good game. And before you lie to the people and say they were missing tons of guys from that defense, the weren’t. Maybe 1/2 guys, that’s it. And SC was missing their starting RB, WR1 and Heisman QB.
