Linda Ronstadt's phenomenal performance of the classic song Desperado. Performed in her favorite way - just her and a piano. Masterly accompanied by the late, great Don Grolnick.

I'm old now and I think to myself, how lucky was I to live in the time when all those great artists like Ronstadt, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Doobie Bros, ABBA, ACDC, INXS, Elton, ELO, BeeGees, Frampton, plus many many others were our normal listening on the radio. I don't think we appreciated how good these artists were. Linda Ronstadt was every young mans dream, and I listen to this song, and remember all the girls in my life, who tried to imitate her look. It was a wonderful time to be alive!

The power of profound lyrics paired with truly awesome vocals touches our souls. I had the pleasure of seeing Linda in 1980 in Raleigh, NC. At the time, I was 19 year-old soldier stationed in Ft. Bragg, NC. I always loved this song. Now, at age 63, newly retired I hear lyrics in the context of my own life. And, they take on a whole new meaning. "You better let somebody love you... before it's too late". I found the love of my life at age 57.

My goodness, what an emotional killer "Desperado" is. Henley and Frey wrote a masterpiece that became the understated anthem of the 70's. What else can you say about this phenomenal song, except that Linda Ronstadt absolutely stole from the Eagles and made it her own. I absolutely love Linda Ronstadt singing anything, I truly believe she had the greatest voice of any female singer , when she hits that high note on the repeated line of "you better let somebody love you " the hairs on the back of my neck just stand up ( and I have a lot of hair , I tell you) but there are two live performances of Linda's that I constantly play , both are from her "Muppet Show" appearances , and in each she truly seems to be thoroughly enjoying the show and the performance. I love her singing " Blue Bayou" with the frogs chorus ,and the Muppets as her backing band , but when she sings " When I get to old to Dream" with Kermit , my heart just breaks , such an amazing performance , and again, this amazing , wonderful lady with the magical voice just puts everything into the song , she may as well be signing with the greatest singers and musicians in the world , instead of a collection of lovable puppets and Muppets, she still puts everything into her performance. And that chorus at the end , and that note that Linda hits , I hope that this mega talented, beautiful lady is with us for many more years to come , and although that magical voice can never hit those notes again, we have so many treasured moments preserved for all time , on vinyl , on compact disc, and on video and film. Watch, listen and absorb her talent, because there will never be another Linda Ronstadt . God Bless her and keep her safe . PS. I want her version of When I grow to old to Dream played at my funeral because I know if they don't cry for me , that will set the waterworks off , for certain. 🤭🥺😊
