Cable ties are not designed for use outdoors. The ultraviolet of sun light will cause them to break down and become brittle so they will eventually fall off. The wire clamp is a great idea thanks for showing it.

Not all cable ties are affected by the sun. There’s UV resistant cable ties. Alit takes a long time for the sun to affect non UV resistant cable ties. Many years.

I like the wire/nail trick. I’ve patched so many hoses or drip systems myself. Never tried a lighter as it’s pretty windy here, but used super hot water….same idea.

last time I did something like this I put the pipe in a piece of sand paper and twisted it round, it holds a little of the petroleum jelly but also gives the wire something to bite into and get some extra friction to hold it even tighter.... Great idea with the wire thanks for sharing

Als ehemaliger Klempner, kam da ein Stück Kupferrohr zwischen, zwei Schlauchschellen und fertig war die Verbindung, sollte das Cu Röhrchen etwas zu groß sein, Gartenschlauch an den Enden erwärmen (Feuerzeug) und schon läßt sich in den weichen Schlauchenden das Cu Rohr leicht einfügen 😊

Je ne mettrai pas de graisse pour faciliter l'emmanchement, la chauffe seule et biseauter les deux embouts sur toute la circonférence . La graisse aide aussi bien à l'emmanchement qu'au démanchement. ( déjà vécu) . Pour le robinet on peut voir que le tuyau est facile à emmancher, de là je grossirai l'embout mâle du robinet avec x tour de téflon ou "chatterton" rendant moins facile l'emmanchement, le "collier" maison faisant le reste . Merci du partage .

Für eine Hausfrau ist das gut gemacht, aber falsch. Bei der Dratschelle, freies Ende durch Öse lassen, dann drehen. Schlauch besser schmieren mit einer Seife, und vorher in kochendes Wasser legen.

Amazon sells little pin torch lighters that are great for crafts and this sort of thing. Great for soldering and shrink tube. Those Bic lighters will burn your fingers and are much slower. They are better than nothing, that's a low bar. When you wind the wire clamp, you need to twist the wires around each other, NOT wind one wire around the other one. Skip the nail and use a pair of pliers, grip all 4 wires and wind and twist them around each other to make it tight and stay tight.

Doesn't work! Cable ties and wire are only a short term fix and will soon wear and break after extended use with the hose dragging along the ground. The thin plastic of the cable ties also rapidly deteriorates under the UV light emitted by the sun. Much better to buy a commercial brass hose joiner from your hardware store which are not very expensive and last a life-time.

Wenn man keine Vaseline und kein Feuerzeug hat,hält man die Schlauchenden in heißes Wasser. Und außer mir kenne ich niemanden,der stabilen Draht und passendes Rohr im Keller hat.
