Thank you for the helpful video. I'll note that for programming applications we simply use a matrix representation. Then use gaussian elimination to solve (unless there is a more efficient method), then use the objective function to find the optimum (with code of course). So, same thing, just done with matrices.

Dear Randy Thomas; In your example of the farming profit optimization you are mixing apples and oranges. The first constrain plots the total land available in [acres]. The second constrain plots [hrs/year] spent on each product ON THE SAME axises. Therefore the intercept of both is completely arbitrary; it may not exist. The units on both axises should be consistent in order to obtain meaningful results.

its good, but i have question, the question is .The uses wood and labor to produce tables and chairs.Recall that unit profit for tables is $6,and unit profit for chairs is $8.There are 300 board feet of wood available, and 110 hours of labor available. It takes 30 board feet and 5 hours to make a table ,and 20 board feet and 10 hours to make a chair. Then a.Formulate linear programing problem. b.Construct the graph and plot constraint lines. c.identify the feasible region. d.determine the optimal solution by algebraically calculating coordinates of the most attractive corner.

Theorems were invented in 1939 proving that for optimization of linear systems always occur at the vertices of the feasible region which is bounded by a set a linear inequalities. Google "linear programming" if you want to understand history of its discovery or its theoretical underpinnings. In this tutorial I am just showing how to apply the concept.

For capturing the video I use Camtasia Studio. It is not cheap. The same company has another program call Snagit which is cheaper with less video editing features and a free program called Jing that I started with for my first videos. For the content on the screen, in this tutorial I used a free download program called Jarnal. I also frequently using Smart Notebook which I use in the classroom. For the handwriting I use a Bamboo brand tablet.

Please, I would like to get the answer to these Questions: a) Repi Soap Company wishes to make a new detergent from two of its current soaps: Soap A and Soap B. The new mixture must weight no more than 4 pounds and is to contain at least 6 ounces of cleaning ingredient D. Each pound of soap A costs $4 and contains 3 ounces of D, whereas each pound of B costs $1 and contains 1 ounce of D. How many pounds of each soap should be used in the mixture in order to meet the above requirements at a minimum cost? What is the minimum cost? b) Repeat the above problem, if in addition, the amount of Soap B cannot exceed the amount of Soap A by more than 1 pound.
