Honestly the first story was fine, the wife chose to sell her robe so her husband would have something to do. He also gave her back some money when he won and chose to become a monk on his own. It's good that she was happy for him. I call that a supportive marriage.

@avariceseven9443 2 жыл бұрын
I think there's more to the story than just that. It could also be possible that she was in that relationship against her will. Her selling her robe wasn't because she was supportive but because it is what she should do based on the time period. You dont think, you just do things based on tradition or norm sometimes. It's possible too that he was tired of married life and just wanna do other things. She being forced into that marriage gladly took the money and freedom along with it.

It sounds like the kind of story that would be performed in the anime Rakugo: Descending Stories, which is about the Japanese art of performance story-telling called rakugo. Perhaps a blend of a play and stand-up comedy, but it's a one-man show and those who are really skilled can effectively voice all characters, and yes, female characters as well. Some stories are funny, some more mysterious, and some teach lessons, like the one in the video. If you want to sound seriously cultured around your friends, give it a watch and bring it up to them, lol. I've seen it about three times now (also "Descending Stories" is technically season 2, but season 1's title is all in Japanese and I can never remember it all besides "Showa Rakugo...Shinju...something" 😅

The more I listen to stories written by ancient Buddhist monks, I can't help but admire their consistency when it comes to being a wee-bit mysoginistic, which kinda just seems an inevitable consequence of celibacy (*looks over at the Catholics but wisely says nothing*). And it's also clear 90% of them had any clue how women or female interactions worked, it's adorable.

3:30 these same laws applied to our own society would see the entire working & middle class boom in terms of prosperity; however, modern "money lenders" have too much power in our media & government to ever let that happen.
@DiscoChixify
@DiscoChixify 2 жыл бұрын
Idk about that. We would probably see the same problems crop up. Banks not being able to incentivize debtors to pay back their loans would mean banks would stop lending and a lot more people would not be able to get cars, houses, or repairs done on credit. If alternatively; the government reduced its spending and increased taxation to the 1%, and then used that excess to help pay off a percentage of debt for each person (not the entire debt so that we’re at least still responsible for a minimum of 10%) that would be better for our economy. Also, forcing lenders to set up a payment plan of any kind with the borrower and not allowing them to outright take the collateral would help. Penalizing lenders who did not do everything they could to offer a payment plan to those with hardship or inability to pay (even as small as $10 a month with a grace period where interest will not compound) would help. If lenders get a fine for not doing their due diligence when acquiring repayment and the amount of that fine goes towards paying off debt, that would help encourage them to reach out in order to get any kind of payment. If it could be something like securing at least 10% from the borrower and then getting the remainder paid for through that excess held by govt in taxes for a period of time, that would be a great solution.
@bustavonnutz
@bustavonnutz 2 жыл бұрын
@@DiscoChixify All credit does is make everyday people financially beholden to banks that convinced them to live beyond their means. Usury is a cancer upon society; creating money from interest out of thin air that actively devalues the currency while simultaneously creating entire industries out of trading debt. If 2008 didn't teach people this lesson then that's on them, they need to read Central Banking & the Enslavement of Mankind in addition to watching the Big Short to get a general grasp of how the proliferation of credit & the defaulting of that credit is to the detriment solely to money lenders & the system that props them up. The average citizen would benefit from the burden of debt being lifted if they weren't living past their means, which isn't what was going on in '08. Point blank, "money lenders" don't need to exist at all. They are a manifestation of consumerism & decadent standards of living. Noone should struggle to afford to start a business or have the money saved to put a down payment on a house. Lending money is done purely opportunistically, yet for some reason there are those that will defend usury despite centuries-old wisdom warning us of its dangers to general society.
@DiscoChixify
@DiscoChixify 2 жыл бұрын
In a lot of cases, if you go to debt collections and hire a debt attorney they can reduce your debt to a 10% payment and then get the rest cleared. But the collections process costs the lender money and hiring a debt consolidation attorney costs the borrower money (which they often don’t have). So cutting out the middle man and trying to make an arrangement where the borrower is ok or still in good standing so long as they make that 10% payment each month (like within 2 weeks after missing their missed payment) that would be a big help. A lot of companies just say your delinquent even if you have made the full payment for that month, but just couldn’t get it in for a week or two. So it was due on the first but you got it in by the 13th, they still consider that account past due and if it happens 2 or more months in a row you go to collections (even though they got the full amount for each month, just a little late).
@DiscoChixify

@@bustavonnutz you’ve never bought groceries or gas on credit because you can’t afford to eat or get your kids to school as prices fluctuate. You’ve never randomly gotten a flat tire in between checks with only enough money to pay for that tire and then the shop tells you your left brake light is also out. Things like this happen to people all the time who aren’t living above their means by overspending on unnecessary things. A lot of jobs are hourly and if you have to take a day off because you’re sick, or your kid is sick, you don’t make money that day but you still have to eat, pay rent, and pay the utilities. The proper use of credit is to buy what you were already going to pay for sooner if you need it and then pay for it later when you get your check. It’s not to hold onto debt for months or years at a time. But sometimes you pay for the groceries and then you lose your job and can’t pay it back. Or suddenly your catalytic converter is bad and you have to come up with $3,000 to pay for it. Or you get into a car accident and the other person doesn’t have insurance and you couldn’t afford to pay a monthly fee for a higher insurance package that would have covered you in that instance. Borrowing is a normal part of life for a lot of people and things happen outside of their control sometimes that prevent them from paying it back. The interest rates some companies offer of 26% or higher are the problem and that’s due to them not being willing to work with people to help pay it back. Most people want to make their payments on time, it’s just not always possible.
@bustavonnutz

@@DiscoChixify People who are living within their means have savings & don't live paycheck-to-paycheck unless they've made really bad life choices. This is just pure cope for people who are in denial that their lifestyle/expenses don't reflect their income. Moneylenders love people like this though i.e. those that couldn't support their lifestyle without credit. I've gone my entire adult life without credit cards purely because I don't take on assets that will cost me money & I save + invest for emergencies or unforseen costs. This isn't hard, the literal definition of budgeting & financial responsibility, yet I'm supposed to feel sorry for people who have no foresight? I get that we all have different circumstances we're dealing with, but having zero savings is a personal issue; not something that justifies an oppressive & extortionate central banking credit system.

Nah, he's way too honorable. I feel like the same way 90% of male characters under 25 on that show go starry eyed whenever they see a Mecha, every swordsman is just like a secret Wano fanboy. They all go out and buy the colorful robes and the sandals and learn just enough about Buddhism that they can come up with clever Buddhist food puns to name their attacks. Then I just assume they show up at their ship, trying to act all casual. Like, we all noticed your whole new "Wano fandom" phase, dude. No, it's not a family thing! Well, cause you're from East Blue, for one! Also, they were standing *right there* when you heard about Wano for the first time! Whatever, they're gonna wait for the Wano box set. Then, once you're old enough, like Issho, everyone just sort of forgets when your whole Wano thing was just a phase and accept it as part of your whole deal. Supporting Evidence: Gut feeling? Oh, and I mean Luffy is DEFINITELY someone who goes out and immediately buys like a shirt of a new show he JUST got into that day and then never wears it again because "laundry". Which explains why he always starts off with an island's native dress but then ends them all in basically the same outfits he's worn since he was in high school. So, yeah, islands are fandoms.

As a longtime homeless vet, "ronin" , i stayed away from gambling unless it's late at night when I can pray because it's mellow. like Trevor Belmont, I stay drunk, that's how I make business and the earth more peaceful . it's a reoccurring plot line in many stories, good wisdom

What would you rather want to be? a) A peasant on fertile lands and good climatic conditions, but just a peasant! b) a merchant in a highly volatile market where many people get rich or lose everything? c) an impoverished Samurai; someone who owns the land but no people so that the estate is derelict and thy noble family themselve is forced to work as peasants, but for yourself. For me, it would be definitely c); b) sounds tempting, but I wouldn't want the risks... However, there's no guarantee that you don't get screwed over again by life... PS: c) is pretty much what had happened to my relatives in Europe. They once had the privilege to carry weapons, but they went back to being peasants, and even worse with every war and economic crash their situation got worse! Some of them lost in WWII assets worth millions and didn't get a dime in compensation. Heck, they even lost their homeland! (and many other things, in some cases, their innocence and sanity included). Even after the war, the state screwed them over one more time! After going through two currency reforms with severe repercussions in their lifetime (later a third, but the Euro was not that bad, ... yet) the state decided to build a highway through their farmland. They paid them far less than it was worth in compensation and the rest of the property lost a lot of value because of the noise and no one likes crossing a highway without a bridge or tunnel. Just imagine trying to harvest like this! Plus, it was noisy AF, so that no one would want to live there anymore. It thus shouldn't surprise you that they disrespected the state's authority with a passion and did tax evasion, smuggling, and a whole lot more...

Japanese medieval history brings further proof - if proof was needed, which it wasn't - that mankind has this uncanny ability of turning a comfortable life endowed with everything necessary into a pathetic existence full of hardships and struggles. I like gambling like the next man but I like my money on my bank account more. And I adore having a comfortable roof over my head, especially in winter. P.S. I don't get bubble tea. Seriously, what's the appeal?

It's not for everyone. My mom broke my heart on my birthday this year when I bought her a mango bubble tea so we could share drinks together while relaxing at her house. She liked the mango part but not the chewy tapioca pearls. Too new and foreign for her tastes. So I ate hers, lol. But I checked her fridge like two weeks after that date and she never finished the mango tea she asked me to put in there...so she didn't care to finish it. Also got some "bungeoappang" or taiyaki in Japanese (sweet red bean fish-shaped pastries) and she disliked those too 😢 More for me again, but I'd have rather she liked them. Made me really happy I didn't take her to dine in, though...that would've been awkward, lol. I personally like the coconut flavor a local Korean cafe serves, though it's a powder and not actually "tea" (usually it's supposed to be black tea, milk, a sweetener like honey, specific syrups or sugar, and then the tapioca pearls). I was duped into thinking that was the case and set out to make some myself with coconut milk and black tea. It tasted terrible to me and nothing like what was at the cafe. And that's when I found out with more research that what I was having probably had zero tea in it at all, lol! I found a site that will let me buy the same stuff they're very likely using, but now I'm looking for ways to use up the cans of coconut milk I have. Anywho, tangents aside, again, bubble tea certainly isn't for everyone. It's totally fine if you don't get the hype and it's better to not blindly follow trends.

Unrelated to the video but there is something I need to say. There are not enough species of spider-based Yokai. Where is my supernatural anthropomorphic Tarantula-Chan? Where is my spider equivalent to a kitsune? Shape-shifting immortal supernatural spiders that get more powerful as they grow older. They can manipulate both the chi of humans and also their own magical Yokai energy. They also have super strength, super durability, super intelligence, infinite memory storage, and unlimited stamina. Their transformations include a human form, an anthropomorphic spider form, and then their base form is just a normal spider.
