The blues are a team rich in history & rich in success.
They are one of the most successful teams in world football, I’ve wanted to delve into their history for a while.
When I did I quickly realised I couldn’t do them justice so I focused on a few things that I was curious of.
Hope you enjoy.
I’ve tried to credit those who I got resources from for the video, I apologise to anyone who I missed out.

I grew up in the shadow of Windsor Park and started going to games alone aged 9 in the early 70's, getting lifted over the turnstyles. I still remember a lot of the players from that era, even though I left N. Ireland at the end of the 70's and haven't seen The Blues since. This was a good and balanced snapshot of the club's history, Niall. Good to see your channel is still growing 👍

Was a brilliant video until ur closing comments about being the most hated club in ireland and also being formed in a area doesn't make them become that religion team check out the history of cliftonville biggest Catholic club in ni now formed in a protestant area but otherwise brilliant video

Cracking wee snippet looking back over the Blues history - lucky enough to have attended the Setenta final and what a result following on from loosing the league a few days previously. My auld lad spoke so highly of the Duke and the seven trophies back in 62 but I only had the pleasure of watching the true legend Noel Bailey over those 1000 plus matches

Mannus was some keeper. Even his last few years at rovers he was sensational. Won them the league 2 years ago imo

I wouldn't like to say who the best player was they played in different eras and different standard of play and fitness. As far as religion goes yes the support is protestant because they play in a protestant area just as Cliftonville supporters are catholic but look at the players many where Catholics no one ever talks about the Catholics that play/played for the club just the songs the supporters sing pity. The one thing i feel strongly about is instead of running Linfield down everyone should get behind their own team and build a stronger Irish League

@@ThePeakys Partition has damaged football in Ireland, no point in denying it. Along with losing Belfast Celtic and Derry City playing in another league all together. Tragic.

I would say the same thing about religion applies to Rangers. Unlike Celtic because of Bro Walfrid & the Irish Catholic community of the Barra’s

Religion and football is always an awkward conversation 😂 Oddly enough even though I spent ages researching the blues I couldn’t find a direct link to it which was surprising. Think I covered before that Coleraine were originally formed at the orange hall at union street

@@ThePeakys if you never mentioned it about Coleraine & Union Street Orange Hall then it could have been me. Pre troubles & Pre 1921 Orange Halls would have been used like a community centres like Blagh, Ballyrashane and the one out at Windyhall would have been used for dances for both sides. Sure Killowen Orange Hall was the old Killowen Primary School. Up around Ballymena they used to share Lambeg Drum AOH & the GLOI. I eat and sleep history and football

Mate, i loved this video. you done an amazing job not bring all the politic and religion bs into it that could cause a shit storm in the comments, but you covered it and didnt duck away. the trip to tolka as i call it was an amazing day, same day as the man utd/arsenla fa cup final that went to pens. unbelieveable match to be part off, yes the football wasnt super dooper amazing but for a part time irish league team to knock off a full time team who were flyin at the time was unreal and in their back yard aswell. best player, personally without question, Mr Bailie. 1013 games for 1 club is unreal. he was my idol growing up and cemented my coice that i wanted to play defence when i played.

Was taken to my first blue's match with my dad and grandad even watched the great Jackie Milburn play watched him score a sliding tackle goal at Cliftonville I was on my dad's shoulder at the time so you can guess how old I was. The greatest player was wee Billy Stewart I think George B copied Stewarty. Did you ever hear of a supporter called the"Lone Ranger" went to every match on his bike, even seen him at the brandywell on his bike.
