This is sickening. The fact that there are no resources to rescue citizens from lead poisoning in a developed country is despicable.

To me it seems insane for paint companies to claim they can’t be held responsible for damage they caused 90 years ago for two reasons 1- I bet if you tried to used something they had rights to from 89 years ago they would still want to sue and get paid see Disney and 2- they KNEW lead was harmful 110 years ago. And they chose to keep trying to sell the product. So they sold something harmful, knowing it was harmful, hid the risks and now want to claim “well that was a long time ago!” Which is insane!

Now they make you sign a paper saying you know theres lead paint in there so you can't sue them. Which doesn't do a thing for the actual people living there

As I child I had lead poisoning, people dont realize exactly how many people have been effected by this. The paint manufacturers were irresponsible by not making it clear how dangerous lead was. It's about time that they paid for the damages.

Don't ever buy children's toys at dollar stores! There is still lead and other toxic materials in the paint. Nothing is regulated. Also, many parents don't seem to know how flimsy and dangerous these things can be. It's tempting to just grab a cheap toy in a store to settle a toddler down - I did it myself - but it really isn't a good idea.

In 1968, my partner lost his father to lead poisoning. He painted the family bathroom using cans of spray paint in an unventilated area with no mask on. He didn’t know the danger. He got very sick and died after a week. His autopsy showed that he had so much lead in his system that it caused multi systemic organ failure. My partner was 8. He lost his father at 8 years old. I remember the house I lived in as a child had that peeling flaky paint in the doorways. This was in 1976. My dad was a construction worker and he knew how to take care of the lead paint once people were made aware of the problem. He fixed those doors and windows by removing them entirely and replacing them with new wood. He paneled over all of the painted walls with real wood paneling. It was never painted. We moved from there when I was 13.

Meanwhile my school found out that they had a sort of insulation in the walls that can result in cancer when I was in middle school and nothing has been renovated yet and I’m already in my second year of university..

Elijah is the cutest thing, he seems really active and happy and I hope that he is still thriving despite his possible lead based delays.

I bought my house in 2000 and they made me repaint the house before i could buy it because it had lead paint.

How is this still a problem. This is such a clear cut issue.

We just rented a house and realised all the paint is lead-based and flaking all over the floors... I have a 5 month old daughter so I instantly pleaded to back out. Luckily the landlord understood. Crazy we still have all these houses with lead paint

I mean, I always learned if I caused a problem, I need to fix it. Same should go for the paint companies. They knew for over a century lead was an issue and continued to manufacture lead paint. That alone should be punished.

Sickening! I rent. Last year I was able to afford a luxury apartment. They sent out someone to test the apartment right away. The landlord set it up. They said they do this when renters have children. I didn’t realize this is what should be done. But I guess you have to pay out more to get it done.

In Ohio this is a big problem. Its been proven and they are still covering it up. We even have lead pips in older poor neighborhoods. Its sickening. 🇺🇸💔🇺🇸💔🇺🇸

Obviously , strip and paint again Make it illegal to rent wth that paint , however skint you are , I’d sleep in the fuken car , rather than sleep anywhere that could damage my child REN
