I actually liked the joke about Godzilla being the real monster. It felt like exactly what I would say in response to one of those overly-dramatic "MAN is the REAL monster" lines. The worst I can say about it is that it's explained too much, it should have just been the husband pointing at Godzilla's silhouette.

Once in Godzilla 85 when the Russian nuke managed to revive a knocked out Godzilla, and in Godilla VS King Gihdorah, when burying his pre mutated form in the ocean... just exposed him to BETTER radiation, making him bigger, stronger, and MUCH angrier.

Speaking as someone who's read this series, I can confirm that the little girl, Allie, marks the end of the mean-spirited kid trend. Blander than a tofu-styrofoam sandwich, yes, but far from annoying and her presence does a lot in making Woods a more decent character. As for Godzilla's sudden nuclear breath, it might have been because he was already pissed off from the fight with Anguirus and the minor annoyance of the noise coming from the highway scuffle was enough to push his buttons. Let's face it, Godzilla isn't exactly known for having the mildest temper.

Oh thank Godzilla. I love when you do the fights against the giant mindless monsters that crush the dreams of innocent people without even thinking about it, but enough about the Mike Michaud at Channel Awesome; Let's have us a Kaiju comic conclusion.

Love the new intro, but I like last year's logo better. I donno, felt more dynamic. Also, I'll admit, the "poke her face" joke made me chuckle... Up until they started explaining it. Honestly, it would've been fine if they stopped there, as a meta joke for the reader that has no meaning in universe.

Given the political 'satire' the book aims for, I think that scene at the start about anyone left in New York is there of their own free will and thus the government isn't responsible for whatever happens to them; that it's is there own fault for not leaving, etc. was a commentary on similar sentiments expressed towards those who were unable to leave New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina hit, mostly poorer people with no place to go or no real way to leave. That would dovetail with the commentary about President Ogden not caring about Asian people we saw in an earlier issue, which was also a satire of sentiments expressed around Katrina and Bush's reactions. So they apparently -are- playing up the connection between the monsters' rampage and Hurricane Katrina. So, plus one point for consistency ... minus about fifty for not being funny, not being clever, and not really advancing the story.

Thanks comic for perpetuating the fear of looters (not survivors) after natural disasters, that’s never resulted in bad. I know this isn’t a one to one comparison, but it’s still kinda wrong.

First off, the new logo looks TOTALLY AWESOME. :D Seriously, it's a thing of beauty. :) As for the comic -- yeah, a step up from the previous issues, but too much reliance on bad jokes and the general awfulness of humanity. Often mixed together. At least this time we got a few moments that actually showed people being, you know, good to each other. Even if it never lasted. *sigh* And yes, the actual monsters still seem like bit players when they should have a starring role. I'm hoping the upward climb continues with the next issue and we start seeing truly GOOD content in this series. . . .Also someone really sent Batman up against Xenomorphs? Next week is going to be interesting.

The opening where the guy discovers where the monsters come from and is quickly killed off reminds me of the part of the Hitchhiker's guide to Galaxy when a woman discovers the formula to help all mankind just as the Earth is distroyed to make way for the galactic bypass. Oops.

I see you've changed the intro to get rid of the "Linkara" logo and emphasize the AT4W logo. Neat.

The tonal issues were one of my big complaints as well. it's like one writer wanted to do social commentary, the other wanted to make a decent Godzilla comic, and they decided to do both.

2019 has arrived and a new opening. I’m liking it. I believe the joke about ‘Poker Face’ could’ve been about the face made in a Poker Game that doesn’t betray a tell. However considering the book, that’s a little too much to ask for.

The satire in this book has all the wit of John Oliver's satire. Say a thing->Say it's bad->Comedic genius

I'll say this, part of me really wants to see Linkara review other Godzilla comics from IDW, I think if he does end up reviewing the rest of Kingdom of Monsters, there could be potential of looking at the follow-up series in this main series of the IDW Godzilla Univere Godzilla Ongoing and Godzilla Rulers of Earth. Ongoing can be regarded as OK but Rulers of Earth is perhaps the best of the Godzilla comics.

Also, regarding Godzilla’s white eyes: he either has Youngblood’s Disease or it’s GMK Godzilla (who had white eyes and was a personification of all the dead Japanese soldiers of WWII taking revenge for being forgotten, or something like that).

If the scene with the old couple was that no amount of heavy commentary on people acting like monstrous a-holes will undo the damage Godzilla and the others have caused, fine. But the comic doesn't exactly make it clear they were going that route.

The different approaches to Godzilla are so interesting to watch. I mean, just look at one of Linksano's reviews of some Godzilla comics: the way the jokes are set up are different, the subjects are VERY differing, and it all feels in character and delivered in accordance to what they'd say or think. It's so. MAN. It's fun to see the same person portraying different characters in the same universe, in the same format, and with interconnected stories, but seeing how they tackle them doing the same thing (reviewing comics about a kaiju) in very different ways. Anyways I think people would show so much more humanity if the writers weren't so extremely bitter towards Everyone, Apparently (except Steven McProtagonist and Little Orphan)

If you want a good Godzilla comic, I recommend Rage Across Time. Just for God(zilla) of War. Yes, Godzilla vs the entire ancient Greek pantheon.

As someone who HAS decided to read the Godzilla books... the first one is shit, middle is okay, third is best So yeah, it does get better, to the point where the first series actually poisons you and makes things worse and it’s better to read the third and pretend their was a better story BEFORE this.
