In this video we’re going to take a look at a self-hosted, open-source collaborative bookmark manager called Linkwarden that allows you to collect, organize, and archive webpages.
Additionally, Linkwarden is designed with collaboration in mind. This means that sharing links with the public and/or allowing multiple users to work together seamlessly is super easy.
You can even group bookmarks into collections and share those collections with friends and colleagues.

This is a very underrated container. This can be MAJOR if your running a homelab with serveral vms. And instead of having seperate bookmarks across vms, you can centrally manage them. Even for company owned computers, its not always good to sync your google links to a company laptop, this is a great work around.

Ohh....this is very cool! I'll have to set this up for my wife who got tons of bookmarks in her Brave browser as I know she wants to keep it backed up and organized. Thanks for sharing this! Looking forward to future updates to the software.

Great tool - In addition to the ability to sort by name / age / etc, it'd be REALLY nice to sort by user-specified order (drag/drop sort).

Hey love the channel love the content. I'm a Devops Engineer and Cloud Administrator Full time, and I would like to give a suggestion for content like this where you are showcasing a cool container. I recommend using a program called Trivy that will scan a docker image and print out human readable results as to vulnerabilities associated with those containers. The truth is many vulnerabilities in a container can be remediated by a simple container level update (apt update && apt upgrade, apk update && apk upgrade). I think it would be prudent to show your audience the potential risk(s) associated with some of the containers you demonstrate on this channel, which can lead the developers of said container to address and fix them for the greater community. You have a voice in the Docker community and I would love to see you continue to showcase containers such as these and encourage their developers to hold themselves accountable for addressing all vulnerabilities, or at least hold your audience accountable for doing simple remediation's to deploy these containers safely. Keep up the great work!
@TitanKingMedia
@TitanKingMedia 8 ай бұрын
Note Trivy is a very easy program to install and the scanning process is very easy and quick as well. So perhaps have a prescan done so your audience is aware of all vulnerbilities

Thanks for this idea. Might make an interesting video to show others how to use it on their own systems. Just took me a few minutes to figure out how to run a test via a docker command and I'm getting all kinds of results already :)

@@DBTechYT yea its a cool tool. To be clear not all vulnerabilities are worth "Stopping the Presses" for, but I think it would be good for you to include in your video as a "Container Safety Rating" along with your demonstration
@DBTechYT
@DBTechYT 8 ай бұрын
@@YugimanTeam I think I'll actually make a video showing how to use the tool and at least give people an idea of how to look through the results. I love that you can scan any image even if you haven't downloaded it to your system. Really appreciate learning about it and the input I've received already :)

This is totally AWESOME! I have been looking for something like this that allows for importing from bookmarks and I was up and running in 10 minutes and already have 700+ bookmarks with 27 collections based on the folders I had already. Awesome video!! A+++

Cool container. Trying out a new browser, Thorium. Only thing I did not like about the browser is it used Google to sync bookmarks. Linkwarden may be a good alternative option.

Interesting little app. Looks great for archiving information. The install was a tiny bit more complex than your average docker deployment but not horribly so. Just interesting that you have to set those things in a cloned repository rather than just using straight environment variables. Wonder if that's a limitation of Postgress vs something that uses MariaDB or something.

Great find! Thank you. I've so many bookmarks over so many different browsers. I've been searching for a way to consolidate them all onto a private sharepoint site (or similar). I also REALLY need an AI driven Bookmark Manager than can important all these different bookmarks into one place and then scan the bookmarks and folder structure and intelligently merge them all together and better tidy them up. Any ideas? I can't seem to find anything like this.

It's bad when things change for the negative. Are you using Proxmox to create a type of NAS software RAID now or just relying on your synology servers?

I think your self-hosting videos are pretty dang good. Have you considered adding another piece to your self-hosting videos? Such as at the end of each video you should explain how to back up your instance in the event something happens. Getting started in self-hosting is pretty fun and empowering, but it leaves a very bad taste in your mouth when bad things happen that you're not prepared for.
@DBTechYT
@DBTechYT 8 ай бұрын
Not possible. Everyone is going to have a different base operating system or hypervisor. I'd have to make each video an hour long just to cover all the different ways to back up the app. That's why I've made separate videos on how to run backups

I don't see why you couldn't just use this compose file in portainer after doing the original copy and setup on the base OS.

Just tried this a few days ago. HTML bookmark import works fine but, and I'm not sure if it was a bug or something else, any imported bookmark didn't generate and "archive" (PNG or PDF both give me an 404 error). I would also prefer to have a web archive, like with Shiori. But I really like linkwarden, it's really well organized.
