I know what you're saying, and yes he does seem to be a good father. But I can't imagine it being overwhelmingly common that a father would be shouting and or screaming in anger at his kids for asking questions.

@@colinofay7237 The other options are things like annoyance or frustration. Not necessarily yelling or anger. Where I waiver a bit is that those sorts of emotions happen, and don't make someone a bad father. That said, you probably shouldn't put those moments out on video. They shouldn't be so frequent that you couldn't just leave them out.

18:00 Small suggestion from working at a university that used to have desktops on the floor with power buttons on the front. You may want to set the power button action within windows to 'do nothing' and then make a shortcut to shut it down and a seperate one for hibernate(dont use sleep, it still requires power) The power button will still turn on the computer, but by disabling the power button action in windows, it doesnt accidentally shut the computer down while gaming on a bumpy road, but still allows you to force a shutdown if you hold the power button.

I do believe they pick up more griefing skills being near the people they are usually near :D Also I wouldn't be surprised they are taught to take it as well as they can deal it. The way Linus goes about being both patient and firm handed with his children is something that many young and older people alike can relate to and learn from. It's a breath of fresh air. The world is bleak and seeing a few smiling kids can really brighten a day. The reason you're watching is not the reason other people are watching.

Bless my dad. I just got a PS3 for Christmas and immediately the next day we had to hit the road to go to Louisiana to see my grandparents. He knew how excited I was so he rigged up a tiny TV and my PS3 to go from power from our van. If we burned like four fuses on the trip but it was so much fun and it was an incredible memory.

I'll put it to you this way: In university I took a course on forensic biology. The class slides were full of pictures of dead bodies in various states of injury and decay, but one of the few things the prof wouldn't put in there were pictures of the aftermath of degloving on a live person. I love the Linus family content. It really shows how good of a dad Linus is, and the team (including the little ones) works well together. For cooling, most vehicles have their pressure vents located in the “trunk” area, that could be used to exhaust the heat.

There's also the time my parents said the ride was too short to put music on, so me and my siblings (there's four of us) spent the next half an hour singing 'the song that gets on everybody's nerves' nonstop. I'm pretty sure we had music on the drive back.

I imagine the kids are used to their dad spewing white noise when talking about tech again. Then again, they seem genuinely curious and might pick up more than we realize. Maybe they do understand half of it. Also, if asking a question and getting a boring white noise answer, why ask another question, and another? Maybe they really do want to know.

When I was growing up, we did some summer vacations to Gatlinburg, which was a 8 hour drive. Our gaming van solution, was to prop up a small (10-12 inch?) CRT/VCR combo units in the floor between the two middle seats and play GameCube. It worked really well.

Reminds me of road tripping down the west coast with my family back in 2003. My dad fabbed up a portable 10ish inch 480p screen to mount on an Original Xbox. Looked like a ridiculous laptop! Many hours playing Fusion Frenzy and Midtown Madness in the back of my parents Doge Caravan. Good memories! Now, 2 decades later, just took a flight & enjoyed Red Dead Redemption on my Steam Deck. As cool as that is, it will never be as cool as my dad’s jerry rigged OG Xbox setup.
