To all you whining ‘click bait’ merchants in the comments... This video was one video from an entire series of videos around Ethical Hacking, Heath does an absolutely amazing job with his videos, what’s more... he provides them for free for people to learn. If you’re complaining, your completely missing the point... a total noob wanting to get into ethical hacking will find this video EXTREMELY useful and it’s a MUST if you want to learn this stuff properly... you have to start somewhere, this is it! If you are more ‘advanced’ than the contents of the video, great!!.. good for you!! ....go make your own video and put it up for people to learn. Drop me a note, I’ll help you sharer around! Stop your whining. This is a spectacular contribution to the community. Great video Heath! As always!

@Davy ... You're right. It really is. I'm not a complete noob, but I got some very useful stuff out of this (from the 1:30:00 mark onwards especially). Some people just don't have the patience or the aptitude to see a video through. And anyway, why would Heath bait for clicks on this video? It's not monetised.

Ah but 'total nube' would be the correct phrase indeed. The Linux usage is beginner and the shell scripting is laughable less than kindergarten level also sorry beginner. That said, this does show who is the target audience of these videos namely those who have no background or experience beginners who might like a taste in the security world but of course laughably hardly even a basic introduction so if anyone is under any delusion this video will teach them even the core basics alone is delusional indeed and need to realize that is clearly not the purpose. The video author did say he has been in this for 3 years which I suppose in itself says a great deal that he himself is still learning basics. I have been professional in all this industry back rapidly approaching 50 years now showing indeed how much there is to really do and learn in the security and systems administration industries

Super interested! I've always wanted something very close to this, but a little bit more advanced. In addition to this, *TargetTrappers* can trace (iOS/Smartphone/Ipad) the phone location history timeline (full) by only phone number and I want to thank them because of them I reached the top of my class and my school gets me grants to full courses for me to learn from and now even though I'm young I'm already starting toward studying for certifications.

First, thank you for your service; and putting the uniform on! I am glad that I some how stumbled across your channel; I am actually more interested in learning how to apply enhanced layers of security. I was hacked on 05.31.19 and had three years of mining block rewards stolen, ( approximately $16k at the time ), and I no longer keep anything on any of my systems at home. Back in the day; around 1991, I wrote some software for DOD in languages long since out dated these days, ( GWBasic ). I once attempted to setup some mining rigs running on Linux and quickly realized I needed to get a tad smarter on the OS. I remember back when hacker was associated as a good term; we use to write in additional features into modules not included in the original software packages; then later it became demonized and rolled in with smackers, and crackers. Thanks for providing this tutorial; I have been wanting to learn more about linux; but got momentarily distracted in mapping bitstreams on fpga's. I have enough spare parts laying around to build another X8 GPU mining rig; which version of linux would be the best version to use for this purpose? Peace

I had the best experience with EthOS -- setting clock speeds, power targets, fan speeds, and mining pools all in one config file is hard to beat. That works as long as Ethash/Dagger is up there in profitability. On some systems I used NiceHash to automatically switch around to the most profitable algorithm -- easier when there is jockeying around in profitability.

What are your initial thoughts/opinions on the C | EH cert, and would you recommend it versus the OSCP or alongside it?

To be honest most certs prove nothing about actual skill, Most certs even Cisco certs are kinda a scam. You will be better off learning a programming language or computer science.

Idk if you're still reading this comment section but maybe someone else does. From my understanding from talking to professionals in the field, OSCP is a lot harder to get and makes for a much better resume, especially for an entry level job. What matters most is having the hands-on skills; certs wont get you a job if you can't actually do the job, but a cert requires can provide a roadmap to get the ball rolling. CEH is becoming more obsolete from what I am told and is more of a general overview.

Great course! Still quite in the beginning, but it is very simple and easy going so far. One note, I am too lazy to read all the comments, so I found the solution by myself. My default password wasn't "toor" so I had to enter the initial Edit mode and change the mode to "rw" and input the "init=/bit/bash" to reset the default password.

Very nice video. I never was interested in Linux, hacking, etc. I didn't know about it anything, but once by someone advice I became to interested step by step. I installed VMBox, Ubuntu after Kali, etc. And I am trying to watch videos to learn all this staff. It is not easy for my age already, need to remember many things and understand. So this video very interesting even I don't know how all internet and machine works. Maybe this course not for absolute beginners like me, because you need to now how everything works in general, IP, nmap, ping, etc, many unknown names 😁 but it help me to watch more videos about it. once more time many thanks 🙂

Ive been struggling building a linux apache mysql and php webserver with active directory dhcp and domain control with ssl/ssh. Got about 75 percent there i re3con with this BASH scripting if we take tat principle further perhaps could get the whole service stack figured out.

Sooo much better than DOS! I wish this had existed in the '90s. I would have been taught it instead. Also, thank you for the vindication via your honesty about educating your cat, lol! I've done the "no mic" thing way too many times, thanks to Win+G and not having the regular Windows settings "just right" or whatever. You'd think Microsoft would have a "quick fix" toggle feature built into the mic button, so when you turn the mic on, the settings change to make it able to record, and it actually turns on and stays on, then when you're done recording, all the settings revert back, so it shuts off and stays off. Or at least they would add a Win+G setting that would give the user control over that, to make it possible or remove that possibility. They also need to add that feature to Skype, which they now also own. But I totally get why you'd be using Win+G (if that's what you're using). It's the only stable and free screen recorder available for Windows that doesn't add some stupid watermark or get crazy in some other way. Oh, and for the love of all that's good in the Universe, Win+G needs a PAUSE button added. I mean, wow. How could they not include that?!

Great video, but a couple caveats: 1) even on a 40" screen the text in these videos is VERY hard to read, you might want to increase the text size in the terminal in the future. Also the "for x in 'seq'" is now outdated and does not work correctly in lubuntu 18.04. It took me a bit to get the script working. Seems newer versions of bash use a different 'for' syntax. I look forward to watching more of your videos!! Keep up the good work!!
