Its amazing that Linux Distros and UI on smartphones develop constantly. For me Gnome Mobile is one of the most interest projects. I hope one day I can use it on my daily driver smartphone. :)

Aside from how cool GNOME shell on a smartphone is, I'm pretty impressed at how well Firefox for desktop looks like it adapts to being used on a smartphone.

Gnome have not showed off the shell this well. It's great to finally see how it works a bit more in depth and also good to know it's not only functional on pinephone. This was a great video

this is the powerful mobile operating system i have ever seen. I have never imagined continuous playback of videos at the background is even possible.

Amazing unified experience between GNOME on desktop and mobile. I dont like how apps can demand resources even when in background (i think phones work best when they give resources to one app at a time by default) but this isn't a killer for me. Great work GNOME team!

that looks great. the software is very responsive. By seeing the pine phone i thought it would take a lot more.

UI can use a lot of work just from a standpoint to be more aesthetically pleasing to look more modern but functionally it looks very impressive.

This is what we were looking, definitely gonna support it. It has great potential to be a true mobile phones os.

I have one of the early models of the PinePhone, and the performance here puts my Linux phone to total shame. Really makes me want to also buy a used Android phone that supports Linux.

I wish that phones were unlocked to install whatever OS you want on them, similar to a desktop computer. Would be really great to run Linux on some modern smartphone with a SD8 Gen 1 or something

I am very impressed. It doesn't look as snappy as SailfishOS but the fact that this is responsive and almost the same software like gnome desktop it's incredibly responsive. Looking forwards to try it out on my Oneplus6 when I get a new phone!

Phosh also works pretty great on x86 tablets.

What are you filming with? If you are filming with another android phone you could get the "Open Camera" app from F-droid so you can lock the focus, exposure and light balance on the point of the object - that way the phone you are filming will get in focus with good colors and less bloom. Please try this or something similar, because what you filmed looks very sub-optimal for a video with so much good information in it. But if you use something like GoPro then there's no fix lol sorry

I am using Oneplus 6 with Windows 11 installed and a joystick with a phone clip. Kind of a mini Steam Deck. It runs older games pretty well

I have been waiting to replace Android with something more like a standard Linux distro on my phone for a long time now. Is this something that would work well on a Pixel 4 as a daily driver yet, or do I still need to wait a little longer? I am not currently in the place to purchase a new phone, and so I am running GrapheneOS in the mean time.

Few questions - Does it support VoLTE( 4G + HD calling) cause Ubuntu touch only have LTE not VoLTE. - Can we run all Desktop application or install and run native Desktop Application like Libreoffice(any office), blender, etc. - Does camera snaps are qualitative just like when Android OS were in the device.(share the difference btw Android and this OS camera picture quality. - Can this OS work full functionality same as desktop verson.

The key would be long term support programs in excess of 6+ years in updates, this would slow down the excessive demand on new phones, meaning less trash. If Linux holds the key to keeping more older phones going and being secure, that's a recipe for a third entry into mobile computing.

What I dislike about Gnome Shell, is that it doesn't really try to innovate and fix problems we have in current UIs. See, Android and iOS started when phones were a lot smaller and single handed use was no problem. Therefore you were able to put the UI elements basically anywhere you want. But nowadays we have so big phones and for example having the status bar etc on top is imo a big flaw, that they could have improved on. But to me it basically looks like a copy of iOS and Android without a unique or improved touch.

Having open alternative for phones looks great but there is question if it's needed. I'm running rooted AOSP without google services. MicroG if something needs like revanced and for terminal I use termux. And I have every android app avaible. That's something that "true" Linux phone won't have until they go mainstream.
