It still amazes me how cooperative lions are in a pride, but when at a kill, all sense of egalitarianism and peace goes out the window. Spotted hyenas also show an unwillingness to share, but to a lesser extent. This just shows that although lions are the most social of all cats, they lack the very tight-knit and relatively peaceful social life canines like painted wolves possess. Amazing sighting of both a close call between Africa’s largest felines and a lion’s version of Thanksgiving!

I totally agree. However, I was watching footage of the Red Road male and his pride and he didn't fight or quarrel with any of the pride and it's cubs. I was soooo shock to see that. And the red road male is gorgeous!!!! With that said, I looooove the bboys and the Avocas and my 2 all time favorite is hairy belly and king othawa 😍❤💪💪💪👑🦁

The USA wont even claim lions as endangered because that would mean the THs couldnt legally ship the lions head back to the USA. * Hopefully where the lion forever haunts that familys house .. Asias high demand has cleared out the rhino & elephant populations for their tusks, so they've turned to lion bones for whatever ridiculous reasons they have. So lions are lured, hunted, poisoned & poached on reserves illegally & legally for their paws, their paws!!💧 We need new rules in KNP to allow trmt of simple yet life threatening injuries to these lions before they all disappear..

Great video. Lots of eating excitement. How come there are so many more leopards the lions left in Africa when leopards are solitary animals for the most part? I would also think lion cubs in a pride stand a much better chance of survival than leopard cubs do.
@MalaMalaGameReserve
@MalaMalaGameReserve 3 жыл бұрын
It is because they are solitary that they can live around areas where humans are - they can maintain a low profile - unlike a pride of lions. Leopards are also able to live in a variety of habitats and live off of a large variety of prey.

@@deniseyoung4494 humans are still hunting these defenceless beauties. Someone in Government (African) needs to change this stupid law of allowing canned hunting farms to operate & then have their lions taken out to a fenced off area to be shot by “so called hunters” paying $50,000 for a dead lion. What kinda governments treat their own wildlife with such disdain it’s beyond mindful thinking it’s downright evil.

Thank you very much MGR for the information as to why there are more leopards birds then lions in Africa. I suppose leopards are the only big cat in the world that have a somewhat stable population. Maybe the American mountain lion too. I suppose you're reasoning reasoning as to why there are more leopards than lions in Africa is probably one of the reasons there are many more leopards than Tigers in India as well. Leopards can survive in almost any habitat and of course hunters have done major damage to Tiger and lion populations. Like many others I wish hunting hunting of endangered species like lions was banned in Africa.

These are the moments when you can clearly see that lions aren't wholeheartedly social animals, despite their social livestyle, but instead still carry a lot of their big cat ancestor's preference for solitude with them.

@m von Of course lions are very social animals, and it was not my intention to challenge this in any way. All I'm saying is that lions have evolved from solitary ancestors, and that the solitude that virtually all other cat species prefer has left its marks deep in the mindset of all cats, lions included. It's just clearly different to what you'll see when looking at a pack of dogs eating together, because dogs have evolved in that way for a much longer period of time. And as you said, lions tolerate each other at a kill, which is unordinary for a cat indeed, but a pack of lions is just not yet comparable to the sociability that for instance wild dogs display. It's not worse, just different
