Though many want Haaland to win the Ballon d’Or, Messi deserves it. The award is not for the most goals scored, it's for the player who had the best season and if you analyze it that way, Messi ousted Erling Haaland in my opinion. Haaland is a phenomenal striker who scored countless goals but Messi once again showed his complete qualities through fabulous goals, assists, and dribbling skills. Remember that Robert Lewandowski failed to win it the year Messi won.

If we are solely basing this award on goals then we might as well put Kane up there as well as he was just a few goals behind haaland while receiving half the big chances. How could it be possible to imagine someone else getting the Balloon d'Or? His quality is otherwordly, and to date, no one else can create such football poetry. There are football players who just score goals (and it's very admirable), but Messi does it all simultaneously: setting up the play, assiting, dribbling, freekicks, and scoring various incredible goals. Intelligence and skill together, in an unusual combination with humility and joyfulness towards the game. Sometimes I think that this football artist has accustomed people to his style of play, to his stellar level, and so people pretend to seek something new. The truth is, that's very human, it happens to all of us. But along the way, we really forget the true value of things. Messi has set a before and after in football. Millions of young people are inspired by him and his style of play. Hopefully, we can enjoy watching him play for a few more years!

He already won the best player award for the WC. He was not top level for the rest of the season with his own club. When you aren't even the best player in the French championship (and in your own club), you can't expect to win the Ballon d'or. Mbappe was straight up terrible after the WC until late March, he caught fire towards the end of the season. The team was an utter disaster. No midfield, a shaky defence and an error prone GK. It’s actually surprising that they won Ligue 1 this year considering how bad they were after the WC. Messi & Mbappe carried them to this title.

They use to say he was finished, he couldn’t do it without Barca or xavi/iniesta. nah he is far from his prime, like in half of these clips he makes short passes to mbappe or neymar while before he would have been able to solo score the goal, even when he is dribbling, you can see everyone slowly catching up to him while back in the day, he would pass 7 people while still outrunning the onces that he passed and then score the goal, he is not the beast he once was but he is still best player in the world and its not even close.

The way he makes it seem so easy... In a hard match, Messi gets the ball, kicks it forward without seeing anything and he puts the striker in front of the goalkeeper in less than two seconds with only one move in the middle of the pitch. It's just awesome.

He might have not scored many goals like in his prime years in barca but his goals were mostly long shots or free kicks and his playmaking ability was insane this season and I wonder why people say Messi robbed Haaland. Haaland might have scored more goals, might have better pace, physicality, shot power, tap ins, headers and positioning but Messi better in other stats such as: 1) Most MOTMs in 22/23 season 2) Top assister in Ligue 1 ( 16 Assists ) 3) Better Match ratings than Haaland 4) Messi showed up in finals unlike Haaland 5) 2nd most successful dribbles completed in 22/23 season 6) Silver boot in WC ( even though it consisted mostly of penalties) 7) Better than Haaland in vision, spatial awareness, passing, dribbling, long shots, free kicks, agility 8) 2nd most chances created after Bruno Fernandes I don’t why people say Haaland got robbed this time , Messi surely deserved this one and Messi was overall complete than Haaland. Cry Messi haters but this is all true

The countless magical dimes to the chokers on PSG, masterclass goals, free kicks, game winners, and putting Argentina on his back in the world cup..there is literally nothing you can say to suggest that Messi doesn't deserve the ballon d'or. How PSG botched 2 champions leagues with this man giving ridiculous assists i will never understand. They should all be ashamed of themselves especially mbappe and neymar. Even a prime cristiano or mbappe could never carry that Argentina roster to a world title, and this man does it at the age of 35-36.. absolutely ridiculous.
