Well, it’s a good thing to especially whether it’s a nomad lion or they’re pissed off male mate. Male lion has a short fuse so short that they literally have to make sure the male lion a.k.a they are mates and father to all their cubs, doesn’t accidentally kill them. Even if it’s because he’s either pissed off or he plays too rough.

it's the end of march 2020 and am in covid-19 isolation, so I've binge-watched so many lion cub videos -- I did not know this -- apparently they stay with the mother until they are about 2 y/o, then the boys have to leave, but the daughters are allowed to stay and become the protective aunts of the next generation -- until some asshat marading male lion or band of lions (I saw one awful video, which I turned off as soon as I realized what was happening) there were 7 and they attacked the one male lion, and he had zero chance and yet he still fought -- one bit him in his spine and paralyzed his back legs, and he drug his body to still fight -- and those clowns kept filming -- I couldn't work in a reserve -- I would have come to his rescue with my jeep or something ) -- comes and takes over -- generally killing the babies from the other king -- I kept hearing over and over from some of the earlier ones on Big Cat Diary -- animal planet -- the British guy who loves these cubs as if they were his own -- saying that the attrition rate -- nice way of saying death rate -- of cubs making it to one year is like only a third survive, and I kept wondering why -- then I stupidly watched -- by accident -- marauding younger males come in and either kill or drive away the male -- but somewhere I wish I had the link -- there is the funniest video ever -- the younger male (he and his older brother are the man studs, but he doesn't breed; his older brother is king, but he's meant to be there for protection when bro is out checking the perimeter, ) well, it was a hot day and he was sleeping -- they actually were able to get the sound of him snoaring away in the sun, he was in such a deep sleep -- in the mean time, a wandering male lion thought he'd come in for the kill while uncle was sleeping on the job -- well, mama was having none of that, and she gets right in his face, then the younger females join her and drive him away -- all the while the male lion continued to sleep -- and it was a noisy "get the hell out" conversation -- so then, after she's sure the other male lion is gone, she goes over to the still sleeping and snoaring male and just knocks the hell out of him -- and he wakes up like -- what the heck is going on -- gets to his feet -- he'd been on his back, all four paws in the air -- tequilla hangover, for sure -- and she is all "up in his grill" -- she hits him a couple of times and walks away, but not before turning around to give him one more -- don't do it again look!! -- sorry this is such a long response -- I'm in the "at risk" category and haven't been out of the house for going on three weeks !!!! but try to find that video -- it's a riot -- hope you and all you love and care about are well -- Patricia

The females' body language is so interesting, especially in the first half of the video - threatening yet submissive as if to say, "It's not that we don't want you around at all, we just don't want you around right now." Before they finally chase off the male, he turns around and has his say, so the lionesses let him get away with his dignity intact.
@mangalores-x_x5 жыл бұрын
You missed that the male lion took the same position. Wild animals are very risk averse in such fights as any wound can be a death sentence should it fester or impair their ability to hunt or fight. That's why male lions usually don't get that old and even lasting more than two years as the leader of a pride is an accomplishment.

I am in awe for these lionesses...to be fair, they are the real coalition, fighting for their cubs with all costs... they stick together and protect and defend their pride... they need the males actually more for breeding then for protection, when in a Mega pride,they can survive and raise their cubs to adulthood and not fear by any pride takeover to lose their cubs due the new males who kill them...the lionesses never forget the cubs they loose, even they are wild animals, they have feelings to...
@Iconoclast19198 ай бұрын
I agree with some of what you say, but even a megapride needs the males marking territory, roaring, and chasing out other male coalitions. I've seen male coalitions 5, 6, 7 strong that would kill any females who resist a takeover. They do need their dominant coalition of males. They are a team.

It's tough even for 5 females to handle 1 male lion, they would all get seriously hurt including the male so they just roar at each other.

The male lion is probably a nomad looking to take over a pride. When that happens they generally kill all the cubs fathered by the resident male or males.
@moviecat76975 жыл бұрын
@eren mori why should you write like that?
@moviecat76975 жыл бұрын
@eren mori The reason was clear. In the begining the lion was in attack position maybe towards one of the cubs, when the lioness noticed she attacked the male.

Do not open your uninformed mouth next time. Male lions do not, other than in truly exceptional circumstances, respond aggressively to aggressive lionesses.
@dp78873 жыл бұрын
@@sign5372 Wrong, yes they do! Male Lions do get aggressive with female lions when they are trying to take over a pride and there are cubs involved and they want to kill the cubs and start their own seeds with the female lion. So maybe you should take your own advice and stop opening your uninformed mouth!!
@sign53723 жыл бұрын
@@dp7887 The way in which I employed "aggressiveness" evidently implies injuriousness as per the context of your original comment. Male lions are specifically disincentivized to injure lionesses when attempting to form their prides because of potential mating partners, even if the lionesses were to collaborate in an effort to push him out. Your reading comprehension is dreadful.

Angel's wings I noticed that. And I thought it was quite interesting. I’ve never seen lion be submissive to a lioness. I’ve seen videos where even though the lion and lioness were fighting, she still kept her head or body low. These ladies were having none of that today..... lol!
