My dentist was a PJ in vietnam.He said they sent them to Alaska for artic training before they went to Vietnam, great guy.

I was an Army Flight Lieutenant commanding a squadron of 4 gunships. Guys on the ground referred to us as "The Breath of Angels. Everywhere. For One Thousand Yards". Either bringing in supplies and ammo. Or collecting the wounded. I listen to these helicopters - and I am back THERE! The Breath of Angels.

Pilot: got shot down,broke a bunch of bones, have to wear a leg brace for life. VA:90% .

Frank Pitts, I don’t understand the United States military healthcare systems or the VA involvement in the care of injured service personnel, and can confidently assume that they are not popular, here in the United Kingdom we have our own military medical services and after leaving the military we are treated by our NHS and get priority treatment if necessary, I think the USA needs to change their system to one like our NHS, free to everyone for your whole life.

Can't say if it was VA 90% or not I would imagine he received a medical discharge and the airforce gave that rating. Also not all wounds are visible, he could have other issues that wasn't discussed.

Amazing that in less than 100years from the Wright brother’s first powered flight we had jet aircraft that could travel faster than the speed of sound and Helicopters that could hover, fly backwards,side to side, and, of course, forwards, but in a combination of directions that the Wright brothers would have probably laughed at or called you crazy, just as they would have been, but they do manage that feat, and, in my Opinion the best use of that ability is their role in SAR OPs, air ambulance, and many other non-combat roles, and the humanitarian uses. I might be biased having spent many years working on and flying in various military helicopters, but they are the best aviation assets ever invented, I worked on fighter and heavies as well but I was the happiest bunny in the world when I was posted back onto helicopters. The men/women who fly em and fix em, the loadies (crew chiefs), winchmen (PJs) and gunners are the best people I ever served with. Respect to every one of them.

My wife's grandfather was part of 278 mission doing this job. Never spoke about it until a year before he died while we were watching BAT 21. His daughter asked if he was ever shot at and he only said he was never hit.

I can't say I believe this story wholeheartedly. The injuries, yes, the original cause of the crash, yes, the details of the rescue, hell no, and the disposition of the injuries sustained, hell no. This man is a hero nonetheless, as are his rescuers. Unfortunately, I find it hard to believe the VA was very efficient with his level of aftercare nor his satisfaction with their idea of compensation for his sacrifice. We need change to this day. These men should be the ones driving Range Rovers and wearing the big gold watches not these pathetic excuses for role models our children look up to today like rappers and ball players. Regardless, the military has a wonderful way of glamorizing any story so it was an entertaining video. 🤷‍♂️

I had to fight the VA for 8yrs to get my 100%, I basically lost it all and lived in poverty during that time. I've never recovered financially. I live in a trailer park, my 20 and 25 yr old pickup trucks have 550,000 miles on them combined and barely run. I'm just glad that I have what I do have. I don't need bling or drip or expensive things because when I look in the mirror I know I'm a real man.

How could you ever understand what they are saying on the radios?

They used very specific speech patterns and vocabulary in order for them to know that Charlie wasn't broadcasting a fake order on their channel. I don't believe they had things like radio hopsets then where all the radios were on the net like we did when I was in to exclude the enemy from radio traffic and avoid triangulation.
