As our NFL Training Camp tour gets under way, we made a Pivot Stop in motor city to check on our guys at the Detroit Lions and it was an unbelievable day.
We had the chance to sit down with Quarterback Jared Goff in between practice and meetings and the conversation was one we all really walked away with a different perspective on Jared as a team leader and man.
Being the first round pick to the LA Rams, leading his team to a Super Bowl but then traded to Detroit the following year all while watching his former teammates go on to win the Super Bowl without him has made Jared Goff’s journey an imperfect one but one with a lot of growth and humility.
Jared explains how it was hard to watch the Rams win last year but he was also happy for his buddies and respected their win, but it also made him want to work even harder to get back there again as quarterback of his new team.
Openly sharing his ups and downs that have helped pave the way for his new path in Detroit, Goff expresses his renewed excitement for football in Detroit and how the coaches have helped create a winning atmosphere and he knows now is the time to go after that NFC North championship.
Ryan and Fred ask about breakout stars in training camp while Channing compliments Dan Campbell as being a dynamite head coach and true leader.
Jared takes some jabs at Channing after seeing the Kevin Hart episode, while Ryan says how defensive players have it more difficult than offensive guys which Fred quickly chimes in to agree with Jared that isn't the case.
Being featured on this season of Hard Knocks, Detroit's fields and facility were filled with cameras and crew members documenting the 6 week experience these players go through leading up to the season. The first episode of Hard Knocks premieres Tuesday at 10p eastern

I agreed. I think the media portrayed him in a negative light once he was traded from the Rams, but you get to see the actual person he is. If the media believes Stafford is better, fine, but they didn’t have to uplift Stafford while also bashing Goff. They could’ve just sung their praises for Stafford and left it like that. But hey, that’s the media for you

Big shoutout to Jared for feeding Amon Ra St Brown the ball so much at the end of last season (during the FFL playoffs)!! He single handedly helped me win the championship rounds in my fantasy football league and made me a sweet $600!!! Jonathan Taylor carried my team in the regular season and St Brown carried me thru the playoffs 😁😁😁. I appreciate u Jared and keep feeding St Brown..... that boy bad!!!

Saw Jared on Aqib Talib's "Fades" podcast to help promote Aqib and his venture into analyzing the game and its players, which turned Aqib into star material for Amazon this coming year. Goff knows the game, his game and the guys that really cover the game. Goff is as real as they come and this was a great interview. So cool to see the respect and humor throughout the segment. I never lost faith in Jared Goff being our quarterback and I think this year will be his best year in his whole career because he has everyone’s support and they went out got him some weapons they showing him that they want him to succeed and that can do a lot of good for him! We have to as a team stay healthy and everyone has to step up if someone goes down and I know last year people are going to judge him but really what was there to work with there was a lot going on firing the offensive coordinator losing wrs offensive lineman hurt like everything was going down and this year it’s like they have a direction and they giving him the opportunity to keep his job and it’s on him to play well now and elevate his team because it is his team. I want him to succeed because he isn’t a terrible player and he has the talent we seen him go crazy some years back and he can do it again. I’m pumped for the season because I feel the change within the team and everyone is focus on doing their part! Lock them gates and let’s go I know it’s just preseason but if we can kick the preseason off with some wins while staying healthy that would be a huge boost to the season

Good to put things in perspective. Sean mcvay's an nfl golden boy... with an LA ego. He could never do no wrong in his mind. He got outcoached as well like some have mentioned. From a rams fan, Goff WILL get the lions to the playoffs. Maybe not this year. But stick it out with him for 2-3 years, keep the coaching staff consistent, keep building in the off-season. You’re a couple years from making it to the postseason. Goff can sling the rock, no doubt about it.

He's a good quarterback. The lions didn't get blown out one game. They literally only lost on last plays ,not knowing how to win. They will be a surprise this year which they actually shouldn't be. They will shock everyone and win 10-12 games this year.

I'll just go ahead and say it since you all started this Podcast I never watch the other Podcast or whatever that us anymore. I was a running back in school and Fred T. Is one of the greatest to carry that rock EVER underrated for sure. Ryan I've always admired the way he carried himself on and off the field the ultimate professional. Channing I'm a Cowboy fan in Fort Worth, TX so I kinda missed out on your playing days, but you are definitely a reason to tune in, straight clown..gotta love it...

Completely went away from "I Am Athlete" and I'm sticking with "The Pivot". It's a much better podcast, environment and better overall interviews. The guys are great day in and day out. No outburst or any dramatic behavior (B marsh), just men sitting and having a chat. Love it

This pod Is by far the dopest one out. Atleast as far as athletes/retired athletes sports driven. It has everything u can ask for. And the 3 on here have the respect from every athlete getting interviewed. Thats when u know u have incredible content. Salute guys keep up good work! Another gem in the books
