I have watched DB working a J-frame from his pocket. He deployed the revolver fast and effectively, so much so I went and purchased a 642. If you get the chance to train with DB you will come away with a bunch of knowledge and probably a good history lesson on multiple topics. He knows revolver history, and their use in law enforcement. Thanks DB for all of the knowledge you have shared with me and the community.

Thanks to DB as being part of the design team. Now, we need to figure out how someone like me, can contact my local gun store and be able to order or buy one of these 432/632/442/642, all UC versions. You didn't have to do much selling to me with me seeing the specs, but if it's too hard to order/buy one, it'll do me no good; or if the wait is longer than a year, my money and attention-span ends up somewhere else. When I go to my LGS and its computer inquiry says it's "allocated", that may be equal to saying good luck, but we won't be able to get one for you, much less all four of those models. It equates to "unobtainium" the mythical material.🤓

for what it's worth i asked a couple days ago at my local store, the .32s unfortunately were allocated but it sounds like the .38s were available at that time. I want the .32 but just might get the .38 if the dealer calls me to follow up and says the .32 seems unlikely to happen.

Someone just like this comment with very old info so, just to clarify: the current, completely uncorroborated scuttlebutt is that all versions of the UC j-frames should release this coming week and continue rolling out into March. These are rumors and should be treated as such. Contact your lgs that deals with Lipsey's. If they're in contact with their Lipsey's rep, they should have better info than I do, especially at the week progresses.

Any finish will wear out if you carry it every day for years and train with it. Wear is a badge of honor on a carry gun, it is a life saving tool, not a fashion statement. Although some are pretty to look at, some forget that isn't their intended purpose 😅
@buckshot44285 ай бұрын
@@jackgreenstalk777 That's somewhat true. Some of these new finishes are very durable and stand up to hard use. I guess it's not possible to put a durable finish on an alum frame gun. My carry guns wear the badge of honor. Take care and God bless.

I have carried a J frame for over 50 years as an off-duty/back up gun. I own a Model 40, 640 and 642. They are great. But I will say this... The best thing about this offering is the .32 H&R Magnum chambering. I bought one of the Model 332 Titanium Airlights over 20 years ago for my wife. S&W subsequently discontinued the chambering and that was a mistake, IMO. The chambering is fantastic for smaller statured people and increases cylinder capacity 20%. And it is a useful 20%. As for the sights and trigger pull? It will have no practical value for the intended purpose of these guns. If you are interested in the .32 H&R Magnum, pay the premium for the useless stuff, because the cost of the original Model 332s are out of control!

Nice revolver, now make a steel frame in 327 Federal Magnum. Many of us don't care about the minimal weight difference. Or come out with a steel k-frame 7-shot snubby. Time to resurrect the 327 Federal Magnum!

I have an old steel, nickel plated S&W Chief Special .38 with a Tylor T Grip... I carry on an empty chamber, (in rotation first shot to last) a CCI Shot Shell, a Wadcutter, a Silvertip, then a plus P solid copper tip... even when empty it is still a formattable weapon... try that with your glock... the reality is you will have less than 3 seconds, to fire less than three shots, within 3 meters...
@ronbloomberg5 ай бұрын
So, you carry your Chief with only 4 rounds? The five shot capacity isn't bad enough...you have to further handicap yourself by leaving one chamber empty for no apparent reason?

Always do concealed hammer. Snubbies are not target shooting guns.

I carry a 340 PD I do not expect to go into war or carry as a main weapon on a police force with it. I( doubt that I will ever use night sights I do like having a good trigger. I would ditch the rubber grips cause... as you say.. CONCEAL my 340PD I ditched the rubber grips that.. suck .. smooth wood. .357 recoil? who cares? fast reloads? who......cares? I have guns in .32... they range from a 1907 savage double stack to a PPK to a Ruger BH in .30 carbine to a 1849 Colt pocket. The only advantage I can see to that gun is the trigger... oh... tritium I have several tritium sight guns... they have an advantage in... they are the best 'dot' sight in the daytime. even with them losing their glow (yes they do in a shorter time than you think) they are a dull white green in the daytime that works pretty darn well.

Anyone know the trigger pull weight on the 642? You would think he's a salesman and never mentioned that and called the grip a sight a couple of times.
@LA_Commander5 ай бұрын
I own a 642 (just the regular model not a performance version) and the factory trigger pull was somewhat hard but not too terrible. Meaning, at close range it shouldn't affect your accuracy. But I installed some good quality Hogue grips and a Wilson combat spring kit and wow! The gun was 100% better to shoot. And those two mods were only about $25 each.

Hmm...I guess if you can't/won't carry an auto, and if the recoil of a .38 is too much for you, then sure, buy a .32 H&R (with ammo that costs $1 per round). The .32 H&R is not the mythical, miniature, magical manstopper that weekenders claim it to be. The only advantage the .32 H&R has over a modern .38 round is that there are 6 in this gun rather than 5. Otherwise, this "new" J frame is just thicker and that much less concealable than its ancestors. If you didn't own/carry a J frame before, this gun won't change that. You still won't shoot a DAO well. You'll still wish it held twice as many rounds. You'll still not practice, because "ammo is so expensive" and you "are really busy." If you already own a J-frame and like this gun, just buy a set of fat grips for your existing gun; get 500 rds of ammo and go practice!
