got mine 2 fridays back and shot it that Sunday, ~200 rounds thru it, NO failures. Love it

I tried some new, hot loaded Active Duty 9mm ammo in my trusted Ruger Pc9 and experienced a hangup with the flatpoints. I'll give it one more try since it was a brand new Glock 15 mag. But if it happens again, will definitely buy the S&W which I haven't yet seen even one failure watch many You Tube reviews.

Thanks for this review! I have one on order. This review is 7 months old, so you may not even read my comments, but here goes: My every day carry is either a M&P 9c or 1st Generation Shield. My philosophy of use for this rifle is the same as the cowboys of the 1800's on horseback. The common caliber and magazine between handgun and rifle makes a whole lot of sense. I typically don't travel fully kitted out with an AR and plate carrier with Level IV armor, so if it proves reliable, the FPC will definitely be my "go to" rifle for road trips.

At different times I've owned the Keltec Sub 2k and the Hipoint carbine. This one looks like it has all the positive qualities of both without the negatives.

I picked up one of these and like everything about it except the charging handle. Do not like the charging handle. Can’t pull it one-sided very easy at all.

This is a very nice carbine and very well designed firearm but like anything there is always room for improvement and S&W likely will tweak their design with time. . It's a bit different from AR's and so it will just take a bit of practice like anything to adapt well to it in order to use it effectively and enjoy to the fullest. The rear mag holders should be considered match savers or for simply housing the mags for use as a easily stowable survival rifle and not rapid aquisition. use some good belt mag holders if you want to speed through the course. This rifle is about having fun at the range or being easy to pack around. wished it was in .45 but not a deal breaker thats for sure

Only negative is the Black Oxide barrel finish.

Just picked one up and the first thing I noticed is they used the compact pistol grip instead of the full size. Stupid move! If you use the full size mags that don't have the little spacer, you have a gap that can pinch the hell out of your little finger! Second they should have extended the pic rail on the grip portion so you can mount a rear sight. Third, why not just include a flash suppressor?

I got one. Mine was dead on arrival. Firing pin had fallen out! Got it put back together although I don't know if it is completely right. It fires very well. 300 rounds smiling all the way. The negative is.... you must use a really tall sight or the charge handel will recoil into your face. It does not have a slide release, you must use the charging handel. Mag holder is awkward and the little mag spacers are stupid. Over all it's a fun gun to shoot.

Though I haven't fired it I did get a chance to manipulate one in the store. It's heavy, it's bulky and it's clugey. The on board magazine storage is useless. You might as well keep them in your pocket. Then you have this bulky hinge that is just visually disturbing and though it allows for side folding, the package when folded is still quite bulky. The charging handle is another painful misdeaign. Not only does it hurt the fingers but depending on your mount it might hit you in the face. One of the worst aspects of the gun is the bolt catch/release. While does in fact provide for last shot hold open, it's useless for releasing the bolt as is far too recessed to manipulate and S&W must have something against lefties because the way the positioned the bolt catch on the right side is the equivalent of the M1 Garand. The trigger, while plastic, is acceptable. To me the fact that it only uses S&W magazines is a draw back as they are expensive and not all that common.

Sorry, but this is the first M&P I have little interest in. That's a whole lot more plastic than I care to carry.
